Well, the gal who we all know once dreamed of being Queen of MAGA can kiss that goodbye. For some reason I thought back to when I was a kid and the movie/musical Bye Bye Birdie and the boyfriend jumping up on the stage to punch (knocking out) the fictional Birdie (loosely based on Elvis) who was going to get a final kiss from a fan before being inducted into the army in the jaw. MTG has just played the boyfriend and Trump is Birdie. The title song Bye Bye Birdie would surely include a changing of the lyric ‘so long Birdie’ to ‘so long MAGA.’
That’s the takeaway from a ten minute interview MTG gave and she rips Trump a new one, saying MAGA was a lie from the start. I’ve included a link to Mediaite which gives a few highlights but more importantly includes the ten minute video. Lots of what MTG says is the kind of horsesh*t idiocy you’d expect. However she’s also quite clear in saying Trump sold MAGA as one thing, but it turns out to have all been a ‘big lie.’ Think about that.
Most of us when we hear the term Big Lie think about Trump’s enormous effort to deny LOSING the 2020 election. I don’t think it’s an accident MTG used that same term to describe Trump and MAGA. And her interview WILL get MAGAs attention with her not just calling the movement a big lie but using phrases where for example she accuses Trump of ignoring U.S. citizens so he can wage war on behalf of Israel! She had plenty more to say and it was a truckload of trashing Trump:
She said Trump has completely turned on his base and is more worried about serving the “big big donors” who send money to his PACs and have pitched in for his new ballroom.
“Those are the people that get the special favors, the government contracts, they get the pardons,” Greene said. “And it’s the foreign countries that are running the show here. It’s the major big corporations and what is best for the world. That’s really what MAGA is.”
Greene then accused the president of caring more about Iran than what’s going on in the USA.
“I’m sorry, we’ve got civil war practically breaking out in Minnesota, can we not care about that?” she said.
All this on top of her continued bashing of Trump over the Epstein files. You know what? Unlike a lot of MAGAs who keep deluding themselves, and demand the release of it all because those files will finally “get” Bill (and Hillary) Clinton but their Orange Turd-God Emperor Trumpty is pure as the driven snow knows the truth. Yes, I believe MTG knows full well that a full airing of all that material might put Trump in a corner not even he can escape from.
I can’t image what MTG imagines her future to be. Unless I’m mistaken she didn’t grow up rich but her dad had a very successful business and money has never been or would have been an issue for her. So she’s got that plus, having waited until after the first of this year for her resignation to become effective gotten in five years as a Congress Critter. That means that fat Congressional pension and the equally marvelous benefit package.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but here goes: Incredible as it seems could MTG actually be smarter than we’ve given her credit for? At the very least I think it’s fair to say a picture has formed of someone who’s a lot more savvy than we realized. She rode the MAGA train to Congress and just like Lyndsay Graham latched onto Trump like a lamprey eel. However even though the ‘host’ was still alive and able to feed the parasitic creatures he was turning sour.
Perhaps MTG realized this sooner than most of Trump’s most ardent devotees and detached. Or more plainly got out while the getting was good. BEFORE what many of us believe will be a spectacular fall of Trump and MAGA. She could have run for Gov. of Georgia or for Ossoff’s Senate seat and took a pass. MAGA will collapse with Trump, whether he dies or is out of office in the years ahead. (No, he won’t get a third term) Incredible as it may seem MTG, assuming she still has ambitions might just sit on the sidelines taking potshots like this as the GOP circular firing squad takes place.
Something will emerge when all the infighting is over. And if as many of us suspect those left want to try and claim they were never, ever EVER MAGA she will be able to legitimately claim she was the first big name to call it what it was. A fraud perpetrated on regular “real Mur-i-kuns’ by Trump. That from the start Trump used them. That he never cared about them other than their voting for him, sending him donations and buying his MAGA themed crap. That he was ALWAYS only in it for himself, and some rich cronies who could make him richer. Oh, and to stay out of jail!
I think that’s why Greene is so publicly distancing herself from Trump, and now MAGA. She’s not that old and taking a few years off and betting that trashing Trump/MAGA will by say 2030 work to her benefit she’s placing a bet. The bet is that by being so public with her withering criticism she will be able to make a legitimate “I was the first” when those wanting to reassemble what’s left of the GOP start playing the “I resisted his excesses all along” game. Time will tell. In the meantime I think we’ll be hearing plenty more from Greene. And Trump’s not going to like ANY of it!

i’m not sure if she’s smarter but she has learned stuff. as i’ve said on several occasions she hasn’t given up on maga she has given up on trump. she’s one of a very few magats who have realized and admitted to themselves that trump is a fraud. he doesn’t actually believe most of the crap he spews and was only in it for his own gain. mtg does believe all the maga garbage. if anyone is going to inherit maga i think it’s her. i can’t think of anyone else with an actual chance of doing so. she just has to figure out how to deprogram the other cult members.
I think she’ll run for president in 2028. No way she’s going to leave the limelight and power behind.
MTG has emerged as the natural leader of all genuine MAGA types who realize that they’ve been had. That’s a special cohort. By genuine MAGA types I mean people who genuinely believed in the shit that MAGA was for. Obviously not all Republicans did, and a lot hopped on the MAGA bandwagon because he was going to carry out the old-fashioned Republican wet dream agenda, like end Obamacare, etc. But some were Never-Trumpers, they never like Trump. There may not be many of the in Congress (think Kinzinger, Liz Cheney), but there’s a fair number out in the rank and file. But within the red-blooded MAGA crowd there were already, even during the campaign, some who were jumping ship. Remember the Nikki Haley campaign? But this yer their numbers have really been growing. They’re former Trumpers who believe he abandoned them. (What they don’t relize is, he never gave a crap about them in the first place,it just took them a while to figure that out. <TG is heir natural leader, and her leadership will draw people away from MAGA faster than they would otherwise do, becaue they now have some place to go. I can see this leading to the collapse of a lot of the MAGA House delegation, because m=nearly all o fthem are just suckups to Trump, and they are now caught in the middle between MTG and Trump.
