I’m not going to link to what’s exploding on Twitter/X right now but I do feel that you need to know about it. The platform is exploding with demands to invoke the Insurrection Act based upon false information that an “armed illegal” was killed in Minneapolis today and now “liberals are rioting.” The Community Notes function is either disabled or maybe it’s overwhelmed by so much disinformation at once. I have no idea.
This blog got started in large part as a reaction to the fact that starting in 2015, with Trump’s ascendance to the GOP ticket, that there were two versions of reality running side by side. It was no longer a case of a cultural divide, it became a realm of “alternative facts.”
This is the main problem with our way of life nowadays. There are two versions of reality running side by side and unless and until a court judgment states, for example, that Dominion Voting Systems did not change any votes, then the fable of the stolen election continues — first and foremost from Donald Trump. Newsmax, Fox, the lot of them, will stop broadcasting falsehoods only after compelled to do so by a court of law and nothing will stop Trump from doing it.
Since Elon Musk owns Twitter/X, we can only presume that he wants to see the Insurrection Act invoked so that we can become a police state. He’s not being aided or abetted by Minnesota law enforcement. Those people have asked everybody to go home after this morning’s tragic shooting, the second fatal shooting this month in Minneapolis.
We’re one year and a few days into the shitshow that is Trump 2.0 and this is where we are. Make no mistake. Trump, Musk, ICE all would love to see Minneapolis go to a state of martial law and then other cities follow suit.
