No Regrets may be an old torch song but it’s not one that’s a favorite of Donald Trump’s, evidently. He has plenty of regrets, foremost amongst them not seizing voting machines after the 2020 election. The fact that he’s even talking this way underscores his basic intention to not pass power voluntarily and that could bode badly for this year’s election. New York Times:
President Trump said during an interview with The New York Times that he regretted not ordering the National Guard to seize voting machines in swing states after his loss in the 2020 election, even though he doubted whether the Guard was “sophisticated enough” to carry out the order effectively.
The remarks by Mr. Trump in the interview last week harked back to one of the most perilous moments from his first term in office, when he was urged by some advisers to order his national security agencies to take control of machines manufactured by Dominion Voting Systems in an effort to find evidence that they had been hacked to rig the election against him.
The statement also came as he has continued his attacks on digital voting machines, saying that he wants to “lead a movement” to get rid of them altogether in advance of this year’s midterm elections.
Mr. Trump has long been obsessed with voting machines, particularly those built by Dominion, a company that has figured prominently in conspiracy theories that technology was used to rob him of victory in his race against Joseph R. Biden Jr.
Forewarned is forearmed. All efforts need to be made to safeguard the 2026 midterm because it’s certain that between now and November Trump will become even more deranged than he is today. Dementia is a progressive and irreversible disease and so is cockiness.

Two words: ILLEGAL ORDER.
It’s also worth remembering that National Guard troops are members of the communities they live in. Or from close by. I grew up six miles from Carbondale, IL which is where the National Guard Armory where Guard troops from southern Illinois served from. Granted, most of southern Illinois south of I-64 is MAGA but Carbondale itself is a university town and still leans Democratic. Plus, even in MAGA places there are enough non-MAGAs that would raise holy hell if there is talk of actually doing this. At least in swing states. Especially when federal judges in damned near every jurisdiction would enjoin a Gov. from mobilizing a given state’s Guard for such a purpose. If Trump were to anticipate resistance from some Governors and attempt to federalize the Guard telegraphing his punch that way would get a nationwide injunction slapped on him faster than Melania slapping his hand (at least he’d have a legitimate reason for the bruising!) and then his face if Trumpy tried to grab a handful of her ass or boob.
Senile, demented, delusional, and hallucinatory.
