[My apologies for the late start. Life things got in the way.] Mmmm seems I’m behind the times. Xitter has an actual fact-checking group/Service/Whatever. Still not particularly interested in Xitter, but probably should be, with all the good things people on our side are saying, doing, or both. Some accounts were flagged for blatant misrepresentation. Let us tell you about it so the glee may ensue! Thank you to Raw Story:

Several Trump administration officials were flagged by a community fact-checking service after openly violating the law in their handling of the release of files about Jeffrey Epstein, and one rebel Republican is reveling in the public backlash and growing scrutiny facing the administration. “Government lies are getting clobbered by community notes, and I’m here for it,” wrote Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) Saturday in a social media post on X. He is the very lawmaker who introduced the legislation that forced the DOJ to release its files on Epstein.

But here’s a disclaimer courtesy of one of our readers (thank you, K!): Don’t give Thomas Massie too much credit. He claims that Trump and the DOJ are withholding the files to protect rich and powerful men, but that Trump himself did nothing wrong. Uh, sure. Apparently, Massie doesn’t want to upset the MAGA voters in his district. It was incredibly disappointing to be given this knowledge. Massie is not as good as we thought he was. We thought a Republican had finally figured out the truth about Trump. Apparently not. Moving along here…

The DOJ was compelled by law to release all of its files on Epstein by Friday, Dec. 19. However, the agency admitted it withheld hundreds of thousands of files, and has made redactions to the material it did release on Friday that were in blatant violation of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which Massie introduced alongside Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA). Nevertheless, a number of Trump administration officials took to social media Friday to champion the administration’s “transparency” in releasing the files, comments that were quickly hit with X’s crowd-source community fact-checking service known as “community notes.”

There’s the setup. Wait til you see what’s next!

Blanche wrote Friday that the DOJ would continue to produce material on Epstein “consistent with the law,” a remark that was immediately rebuked by a community note that bluntly stated that “the actions of the DOJ aren’t ‘consistent with the law.’” //// Similarly, Bondi took to X on Friday to proclaim that President Donald Trump was “leading the most transparent administration in American history,” a remark that again was rebuked by a brutally harsh community note. “Contrary to the claim, instead of transparency, the administration runs defense for pedophiles and rapists,” the community note reads.

OOOoooo scorched! Trump’s cabinet thinkas they are untouchable. <BUZZ> Wrong! Too bad, so sad (even though we aren’t). It’s great that Xitter is fact-checking. This should be interesting right up til midterms. Someone is keeping an eye on Trump’s cabinet and organization. Actually, come to think of it, probably a lot of “someones”. This shows enormous potential for the country, particularly among those who use Xitter and will be exposed to fact checks. Unfortunately, there are still going to be some fools who just pop off at random times. Okay, here’s a little bit more, and then we’ll close:

The official X account of the DOJ fired back at claims that it was redacting the identity of politicians, which would be illegal under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which only allows for redactions to protect the identity of victims and minors. Again, a community note flagged the DOJ’s remarks as a lie. “The Department of Justice’s ‘extensive redaction’ of the currently released Epstein files does not comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which makes it against the law,” the community note reads.

WHAM. Busted! Apparently, the communities know the Epatein law better than the DoJ. Isn’t that backwards? The head of our country is rotting away, that being Trump and his cabinet, of course. It’s just rotting away. Will midterms help us stop it, or will we have to hope for 2028? And when is it too late to save us?

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money, especially around the holidays. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Ursula

  1. Oh FFS what planet is this person on, eh? The indications are, base upon this: ” … Blanche wrote Friday that the DOJ would continue to produce material on Epstein “consistent with the law,” a remark that was immediately rebuked by a community note that bluntly stated that “the actions of the DOJ aren’t ‘consistent with the law.’” //// Similarly, Bondi took to X on Friday to proclaim that President Donald Trump was “leading the most transparent administration in American history,” a remark that again was rebuked by a brutally harsh community note. “Contrary to the claim, instead of transparency, the administration runs defense for pedophiles and rapists,” the community note reads…” possibly points to the best answer to this, is called ‘projection’ or is is bare-faced and blatant untruth vomit?
