You had to know this was coming. A red state said no, we don’t have the support to gerrymander, and Trump is losing his tiny little mind. He is, of course, pissed that they defied his edict. Well, it wasn’t working, and their constituents agreed. If the state doesn’t want it, the state won’t do it. A bit of a surprise, there. Let’s hear it for people standing up to Trump! His fat thumbs are flying (flap, flap), posting to Truth Social, and he’s ranting. Can’t beat that. All to the good for us. Let’s hope he doesn’t figure out a way (or one of his staff doesn’t) to force it. From Politico via AlterNet:
Blaming the GOP leader of Indiana’s state Senate for refusing to convene to redraw congressional maps in the Republican Party’s favor, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social Sunday to demand his and other Indiana Republicans’ oustings, Politico reports. “Very disappointed in Indiana State Senate Republicans, led by RINO Senators Rod Bray and Greg Goode, for not wanting to redistrict their State, allowing the United States Congress to perhaps gain two more Republican seats. The Democrats have done redistricting for years, often illegally, and all other appropriate Republican States have done it. Because of these two politically correct type ‘gentlemen,’ and a few others, they could be depriving Republicans of a Majority in the House, A VERY BIG DEAL!” Trump posted.
Sorry not sorry, dude. They are in the majority *right now*, but apparently, he had forgotten that. He is a PINO. *We* know the country is being run by others (read: Stephen Miller, at the very least), so they just let him snort and paw and fume all he wants on TS as long as he does what he is told. Wait, no, pardon me, he does what he thinks is right, parroting suggestions made to him that make him think he is in charge. It had to take some effort to figure out who the Republicans were, after all.
Senate President Pro Tempore Rodric Bray (R-IN) announced on November 14 that the Indiana Senate will not reconvene to vote on redistricting because there is insufficient support and not enough Republican votes in the chamber to pass the measure. But Bray’s comes as California Democrats overwhelmingly passed Governor Gavin Newsom’s Proposition 50, a ballot measure to redraw five of the state’s congressional districts in Democrats’ favor ahead of next year’s midterms. Party efforts are also ratcheting up in Democrat-led Illinois and Maryland, Politico reports.
Oh, Trump is not going to like that, oh no indeedy. It’s fine for *him* to have that done, but blue states, Democratic states? No, no, no. Don’t even *think* it, let alone *do* it. California has led the way. Texas led the way to start, but more red states are having trouble. Want to bet that more blues *will* follow? We can certainly hope so! Blue states can see what Trump is pulling, and we expect they will be able to gerrymander for the Democratic side. It should be fun watching him implode, after all. To close:
State Sen. Greg Goode (R-IN) has not been leading the push for redistricting, but rather has been an obstacle to the plan, holding a public listening session in Terre Haute in early November 5, where dozens of residents spoke, all overwhelmingly against the mid-cycle redistricting plan. Trump also accused Gov. Mike Braun (R-IN) of failing to ensure the measure received the necessary votes to pass. “Any Republican that votes against this important redistricting, potentially having an impact on America itself, should be PRIMARIED,” Trump posted. “Senators Bray, Goode, and the others to be released to the public later this afternoon, should DO THEIR JOB, AND DO IT NOW! If not, let’s get them out of office, ASAP,” Trump wrote.
Oyyy. Here we go with the primarying again. That was months ago, and it isn’t the threat he thinks it is anymore. HE should be primaried, even if it actually can’t be done. On the other hand, once the Democrats get the majority after the midterms, he might be impeached, and this time it should stick. After all, we have a felon, a rapist, a pedophile, and an insurrectionist in the White House. Dunno if JD would be any better, but he has 4 brain cells where Trump only has 3 these days. Well, he appears to. He’s come up with some nutty ideas on his own (read: stupid shizzle in Springfield), so there’s no telling. We shall wait for what happens. Much as we hate the idea, we’ll have to bide our time. It’s coming.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Just read a story on AOL’s news feed that Sen Goode was the victim of a “swatting” based on an email (of all things!) “advising [law enforcement] harm had been done to persons inside a home.”
http://www.aol.com/articles/indiana-lawmaker-opposed-trumps-redistricting-032243404.html
I couldn’t post my real feelings about the story since my history of commenting on AOL’s stories leads to a lot of “Your comment is being moderated” or “Your comment contains language which might offend” reactions (and I seriously push back, especially when the comments are full of right-wing posts spewing outright nonsense and conspiracy theories and using some language that deeply offends me but I digress . . . ) but I wanted to say that it’s all on Drumpf and that Goode should immediately hold Drumpf personally responsible for causing one of his deranged supporters for sending law enforcement officials on that wild goose chase.
Good grief, already? That’s ridiculous! We can hope he will, but I don’t know if he will. It *is* on Drumpf, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I hope Sen Goode decides to hire protection after that. I have a funny feeling he and his family are going to need it now. This is disgusting.
