My day got off to a very late start and one of the first things I learned when catching up on news was House Speaker Moses Mikey Johnson displayed the lack of class and respect one would expect regarding former Speaker Nancy Pelosi announcing her retirement from Congress at the end of her current term. Actually lack of class and respect is too polite. Johnson’s thoughts were disgusting, despicable and down at a level one would find in Trump’s fake gold toilet after the Turd God Don does his “business”. (FYI Trump let forth his own stream of classless, vile thoughts)
Johnson, perhaps in reaction to his Party getting steamrolled all over the country in elections for Governorships and major city Mayoral races (fun fact – J.D. Vance’s half brother lost by over 70 points in Cincinnati) to state Supreme Court seats (Pennsylvania) to a utility commission (Georgia) to an attempt to create another GOP seat in the House (Kansas) to state legislatures and local races. It was pretty much a GOP sandcastle built in a parking lot that got fire hosed away by a BLUE fire truck leaving not a grain of sand.
The GOP wants to make the results ALL about the New York mayoral race and Mamdani being the new face/leader of the Democratic Party. For the record Mamdani is not a “Communist” or even “Socialist” but rather a Democratic Socialist like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Sanders brands himself as such because he models himself after European politicians. Our friends in Europe have their own liberal vs. conservative battles but the fact is most of the countries have a MUCH stronger social safety net, guaranteed quality universal health care, benefits beyond that like more paid time off work and real and meaningful family leave and so on. People there are far more likely to be healthy, happy, be able to afford good housing, not worry about mass shootings etc. What an AWFUL place Europe must be!
Well, whether there should be more Social Democrats in DC be it Sanders, or younger ones like AOC or in major offices like Mayor of NYC is a much longer discussion. The GOP and Trumpism have stepped on too many rakes (come to think of it rakes are T as in Trump shaped) and finally flopped on it’s smug, ugly face. Long before Tuesday it was assumed Mamdani would win despite hopes Cuomo might somehow pull off an upset so GOPers from Trump on down were primed with new messaging. ALL of it being variations on the theme of a COMMUNIST, and worse MUSLIM were now in charge of the entire Democratic Party.
The problem they’ve got is one I already mentioned. Republicans and Trumpism got an old-fashioned beatdown all over the country. Including two moderate Democratic Congresswomen being elected in actual landslides in New Jersey and Virginia. Yes, both states are blue but not always reliably so, especially in their legislatures. Virginia in fact had the ‘trifecta’ of a GOP Gov., Lt. Gov. and AG these past four years. Virginia Governors aren’t allowed to run again without sitting out for four years and no one who’s ever tried has gotten a second term. The Lt. Gov. got whipped by moderate Democrat Spanberger and the sitting AG got solidly beaten by a scandal plagued Democrat. The closely divided legislature barely controlled by Democrats won’t be anymore. Dems picked up at least a dozen seats.
In New Jersey Mikie Sherrill outperformed Harris in every single county. If I’m not mistaken she even came close to winning a county or two Trump won last year! The point is that not one but TWO moderate Democratic women also won on Tuesday. BOTH have rock solid national security credentials. Sherrill is a Naval Academy graduate and Naval Aviator. Her ‘wings of gold’ are a helluva lot more real than any of that fake Trumpian gold! Spanberger is a former CIA officer and comes from a family who’ve served and inspired her to do so. Neither can be painted as ‘radical leftists’ although the GOP will surely try. Hell, if Strom Thurmond, the one from his Dixiecrat days came back to life and with that platform won the Presidency or Governorship GOPers would scream he was “the most LIBERAL Democrat ever!”
I wrote all that to give you the context on why little Mikey Johnson took his cheap shot at Pelosi and the Democratic Party. It’s beyond insulting for him to claim she’s quitting, run out by the new ‘Marxists’ now ‘running’ the Democratic Party for not being liberal enough. However that’s essentially what he said. Say what? or rather WTF? I know it’s bad form for a gentleman (which I used to be before Trump) to mention a lady’s age but Nancy Pelosi is EIGHTY FIVE freaking years old! I for one think she’s more than earned a retirement after so much service and making of history. She’s put in forty freaking years of service in the U.S. House of Representatives. That means little Mikey she was serving in Congress as you were hitting puberty and learning to jerk off. If Pelosi clips her nails before her final exit from the House chamber as a Congresswoman she’ll leave behind more legislative skills, leadership and class than the likes of you could dream of having in a dozen lifetimes.
I’ve had my issues with Nancy Pelosi but I don’t for one second doubt her intellect or ability to be a political leader who will continue to be a force even in retirement. She could already have retired back to San Francisco. She’s smarter than I am (and for you conservative lurkers I was 92 percentile on my college boards – IOW in the top eight percent), as tough as I ever was and as good a leader as I’ve been told I was. But all things comes to an end. Lord knows after some crazed MAGA goober broke into her home there hoping to beat her to death with a hammer and had to settle for getting in some brutal whacks on her husband it would have been understandable. However, while she stepped back she has been right there to impart some of her encyclopedic knowledge to Jeffries and the new leadership team.
But it’s time. Nancy Pelosi has sure as hell EARNED the right to spend what years she has left focused on more quality time with her husband, children and grandchildren. For a vile PIECE OF SH*T like Mike Johnson to insult her as he’s done, to denigrate her by saying she was chase out by “Marxists” makes my blood boil. Alas, Moses Mikey has other RWNJs echoing his bullshit. Trump as I’ve already mentioned. Fox’s Peter Douchebag Doocy, the folks at the New York Post and plenty of others are piling on. Not a one of them is fit to wipe Trump blood (from her beatdowns of him in negotiations) off her shoes!
Well Mikey, one thing I’m sure of is that history will describe Nancy Pelosi as a history making, legendary Speaker of the House. One of the best. You? You name will evoke a ‘Who? Oh, the milquetoast accidental Speaker who got the job by default and was reviled both within his own Party and out as hapless and ineffective. Not up to the job when he got it and never learned to be so. Not for a single day.
