“A remarkable moment of television,” is how this is being characterized. Jerome Powell shut down Trump and his sidekick, Uncle Tim Scott, playing Stepin’ Fetchit, at the Federal Reserve Headquarters today, simply by putting on his glasses and reading a piece of paper. Trump, true to reality TV form, is looking to discharge Powell for cause and so he staged a moment where he openly rebuked the Chair for waste. But there is and was no waste. Powell informed Trump that he was including a building finished five years ago in his figures — and of course including that would make current expenditures appear excessive. It’s a wonder Trump didn’t include the Brooklyn Bridge in his assessment. This is the fairy tale, Alice In Wonderland world that Trump draws us into.
Kudos to Powell for making Trump look like the liar and fool that he is. The ploy didn’t work. And of course, as pointed out in the clip, this is to deflect from the Epstein deposition footage and also from the Epstein investigation as a whole.
It didn’t work today. Trump, despite his best efforts, cannot seem to spin the narrative away from Epstein. And this is not the doing of his behemoth enemy, the imaginary “fake news” his own personal, fire-breathing dragon. This is the doing of his MAGA base.
And the pure comedy of this is that Trump, playing his reality TV version of a president, comes across as a game show host. Powell comes across as the quintessential businessman, calm, cool, poised, and with ready analysis and answers. If we could switch seats on the Titanic, here, I’d say put Chairman Powell in the White House and let Trump wander around with a hard hat and a piece of paper until Susie collects him and puts him down for his nap.
Good luck coming up with a better ploy next time, Donald. This one didn’t work. And make no mistake. Trump is beside himself. He’s not used to his bag of tricks not working. His tricks have always worked. Fox News has always helped him make them work. Now Fox News is interviewing Alina Habba, who’s cobbling together conspiracy theories of her own. Those are not only not allowing her to keep her U.S. Attorney’s job, her license to practice law is on the line. She’s under investigations for ethics violations, including interfering with a settlement of one of Trump’s former Bedminster employees and then the wrongful indictment of the Mayor of Newark.
The little house of cards hasn’t fallen yet. But it is getting wet and wobbly.

Alina will be fine, she’s already proved herself at being the other sort of solicitor, the person who solicits. She could earn good money while at the same time improving her moral appeal.
Lol Ursula, typical liberal! In such a huge rush to point out an alleged error by President Trump you’ve made the faux pas yourself.
Looks like the president was 100% correct in the numbers he used at the federal reserve site yesterday and it was Powell who was wrong. You should wait for all the facts before you write a lousy piece…but you won’t. I guess I shouldn’t hold my breath waiting for a redaction.

Your evidence, Mark? Or is it your opinion? Other Zoomers, I had to rise to it
I can’t add the link here but there is an article on Daily Wire by Hank Berrien that will detail it for you. That’s where I read it.
