In partnership with Denis’ column: y’all, here we go again! Kilmar is back, but he’s going to face some Federal charges? What the hell?! Nothing was ever said about this when we were trying to get him back! The only thing we know of is the illegal immigrant, which is a misdemeanor. The federal charges are pretty weighty, but we have heard *nothing* about them until now. Did they decide to submit those in order to bring him back?
Now, that’s pretty low. Yes, we’ll get him back, but then he’s going to jail instead of home. That’s a wretched thing to do to his family. Yes, he’s back, but you can’t see him unless you go to where he’s being held. We don’t know *where* he’s being held! Really??!! Come ON now! There’s so much about this that doesn’t feel right. Of course, we are talking about Pam Bondi here, and she’ll do just about anything her lord and master, tRump, tells he to do. It’s still bogus. And cruel. But the cruelty is the point, remember? He doesn’t get to see his family, either!
Yes, this is rubbish. It’s bugging me. I can’t quite figure out why, except that the charges are too convenient. But otherwise, I have no idea why it seems off. That’s annoying. How about some quotes from CNN? Yes? Alrighty, here we go!
Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man mistakenly deported to El Salvador in March, has been returned to the United States to face federal criminal charges, Attorney General Pam Bondi said Friday. Abrego Garcia has been indicted on two criminal counts in the in the Middle District of Tennessee: conspiracy to unlawfully transport illegal aliens for financial gain and unlawful transportation of illegal aliens for financial gain. The indictment unsealed Friday afternoon accuses Abrego Garcia and others of partaking in a conspiracy in recent years in which they “knowingly and unlawfully transported thousands of undocumented aliens who had no authorization to be present in the United States, and many of whom were MS-13 members and associates.”
Really??!!??!! Unsealed *now*? And thousands? That makes less than no sense. Yea, it’s bugging me too. And they haven’t indicted anyone else! That *really* bugs me. No charges against anyone else, either. Good GRIEF. Who did they buy off or intimidate to have this done, hmmmm? Plus, gahhh, he is NOT a member of MS13!!! The photoshopped picture of his knuckles with MS13 was pretty blatant. It was obvious to more or less everyone, right away, that it was faked. He has been seen before a judge who specifically protected him from going back to El Salvador because of gang violence, and he would likely be killed almost as soon as he was put back there!
I’m not sure if this is going to close the cases between the Feds and Judge Boasberg (damn, I heart that man), and Judge Xinis (I kinda heart her too) or not. It would be a pity if they were. Well, except the case in front of Judge Boasberg actually has more to do with the planes leaving and not so much with Kilmar specifically. Hmmmm again. I’m kinda hoping they won’t be closed because to me, that’s a good thing to put the screws to the Feds even though Kilmar has been brought back. Shall we have another quote from CNN? Yes again? Cool.
Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, an attorney for Abrego Garcia, accused the Trump administration of “playing games” with the legal system and said his client should appear in immigration court, not criminal court. “The government disappeared Kilmar to a foreign prison in violation of a court order. Now, after months of delay and secrecy, they’re bringing him back, not to correct their error but to prosecute him. This shows that they were playing games with the court all along,” Sandoval-Moshenberg said in a statement to CNN. “Due process means the chance to defend yourself before you’re punished, not after. This is an abuse of power, not justice.”
So, this turns into a huge mess. A HUGE mess. It’s too, too convenient. Trump said earlier in the timeline that he *could* bring Kilmar back, except he deliberately did not! Talk about egg on his face that’s only getting wiped off now. Then there’s Pam Bondi crowing about bringing him back to face *federal* charges. Whaaaaaat? It’s just wrong. Okay, I’ll give you one last quote to close. From CNN again, and you can read the full article here.
Abrego Garcia’s case went all the way to the Supreme Court, where the justices in April required the administration to “facilitate” his return but not “effectuate” it. That somewhat cryptic language allowed the administration to claim a victory for weeks as Abrego Garcia remained in detention. The Supreme Court did not give the administration a deadline for when Abrego Garcia should be returned. The opinion was unsigned and no dissents were noted. Notably, though, Abrego Garcia’s case was referenced by the court in a subsequent order barring Trump from removing certain migrants under the Alien Enemies Act. The court noted that the Trump administration has represented that it was “unable to provide for the return of an individual deported in error to a prison in El Salvador,” and suggested that meant the issue of ensuring migrants receive due process were particularly weighty.
There’s a whole lot more in the (long!) article for you to see if you follow the above link I provided. I was trying to write an actual column and not quote the whole thing for you. I think I’ve covered the gist of it. We’ll see how this nonsense plays out, as I’m sure it will be slow-walked for a long time. A LONG time. In the meantime, we don’t know where he is, and his family doesn’t know where he is. Cruelty is the point. Thanks for sticking with me!

Friends, we’re in a dark passage here. We started losing traffic last November, when the entire country got fed up with politics. Added to that have been my health problems over the past two months. We’re falling behind financially. If you can help in any way, it would be appreciated. I’m doing my best to get back in the saddle again. Thank you.

It’s a pretty goodguess they made them up. But it any case, Federal charges must go through a grand jury to get an indictment, and theindicyment must go to a Federal court and taken deriously enough by a Federal judge to hold a jurytrial, and then they must get past a jury. Even if all that happens, he will still be in a prison in the United states, a Federal prison, and that is already better than CECPT, and his family will know he is not dead and will be able to communicate with him, and maybe even visit him.
Regardless of the outcome, and certainly while this s bening adjudicated, there sill be financial issues. Last I heard it was not illegal to start a GoFundMe or similar program for someone’s family. And there a lot of irate Americans who are emotionally invested in this travesty. Np, it shouldn’t be necessary. But here we are.
