We well recall Donald Trump saying he could shoot somebody on 5th Avenue and not lose a vote. How long before somebody else shoots somebody in cold blood on 5th (or any) Avenue and Trump pardons them, simply because he can? Donald loves playing God and flipping the middle finger at the rule of law. That’s his favorite pastime. And so he decided to pardon “Lady Trump” one of his allies in the Silver State, renowned locally for her lunacy, believe me.

President Donald Trump has pardoned a former Las Vegas City Council member and one-time Nevada gubernatorial candidate who was found guilty of fraud last year, the latest example of the president using his pardon power to reward allies.

Michele Fiore — who has occasionally been dubbed “Lady Trump” — was convicted in October of using $70,000 she solicited to build a memorial for two fallen police officers on personal expenses, including political fundraising bills and rent payments. Last week, a judge dismissed her request for a new trial and scheduled her sentencing for May 14.

Trump pardoned Fiore Wednesday, according to court documents filed Thursday by Fiore’s attorneys.

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know. Or, a tackier version of that old slogan is, it’s not what you know but who you blow. Fiore is a walking caricature of a human being, let alone a politician. She was proposed for a judgeship in Pahrump, which I found amusing since she doesn’t even have a law degree, let alone having practiced law ever. But that issue was under consideration before Fiore got in trouble for the $70,000 wire fraud embezzlement.

Maybe she’ll end up being a judge now. At some point this blatant disrespect for the rule of law is going to blow up in the GOP’s face. Either that, or America is irrevocably headed towards third world, banana republic status. Trump is the ultimate banana Republican, of that there is zero doubt.

Think about this seriously for a moment: what is Trump going to do next to abuse the pardon power? Open up all the prisons and let people out? If the pardon power is as absolute as it is, currently, then conceivably he could do that on his last day in office.

Is that what we’re looking at down the road? The pardon power is like so many things in life, it’s fine as long as people don’t abuse it. And nobody has abused the pardon power more than Trump.

It’s high time to get legislation in gear to truncate presidential pardon power authority.

  1. It is abuse of process and abuse of power like this that has directly led to selling out of America. It is why the Dow drops, the dollar drops, and everyone’s mortgages and personal and business loans will and do cost more.

He is making America a corrupt ‘shit-hole’ country.

    And EVERYONE pays the price.

  2. Hmm. I had a thought about this after I’d finished reading and closed the tab but, what do the rest of you think about this notion?

While SCOTUS has largely accepted the idea that a presidential pardon is something that can’t be questioned or challenged, what if the State of Nevada decides to IGNORE that pardon? If Trump is so willing to flout the law (as he’s doing with the deportation “situation”), then why should the states accept anything Trump says or does?

  3. I had a bet that she would b pardoned by Trump if he won the election a long time ago. I just made $250, not a bad bet lol. I would have much rather have seen her sentenced. Guess I can buy a few eggs at the new Henderson Aldi.
