It’s said that a coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only one. And then there’s Irony, who has been murdered several times daily since Donald Trump came down the escalator. As you are sick of hearing by now, Michelle Obama is being raked over the coals by right-wing media because she’s not attending Trump’s inauguration. The fainting couches are sinking through the floor boards as bodies keep crashing on them and the pearls have all died of asphyxiation, from all that clutching. The Daily Show did inject a note of reality, however.

That about says it. I think that Michelle Obama’s issue is probably a simple one: she’s in shock like the rest of us that America chose to go this Bizarro World direction and she’s tired of playing the game. I respect that. She’s in her 60’s now, she’s borne up under immense abuse as the first Black First Lady, and I think she’s just had it. I don’t blame her one bit.
The guilt tripping and shaming by right-wing media is so comical. It was perfectly fine that Trump’s tramp-consort didn’t invite Jill Biden for tea and the two of them skipped out on Joe Biden’s Inauguration — but turn the tables around? They are shocked we tell you, shocked.
And nobody is going to Trump’s Inaugural luncheon. So the people who are showing up just for the sake of image, propriety, whatever, are drawing the line at partying with Trump.
I’m sure the Clintons would love to stay home but then Hillary would get flamethrowered. “She can’t lose.” No, she lost gracefully, Admirably in fact. Donald is the one who behaved like a complete child when he lost. And I’m equally sure the Bushs would love to stay home but then that won’t look good for the party, bla bla.
So the people who will be there will be there not because they want to be but because they feel it’s the least worst choice that they can make. Nobody serious about politics or life in general is happy that Trump won. A Trump win shows how lost and deluded so much of America is.
Billionaires are happy, of course. This is their dream come true. America has been moving towards a technocracy and an oligarchy for some time and this just puts that agenda on an escalator with rockets attached.
The next four years will be the most cynical in our history. America withstood one Trump term because we told ourselves he was an aberration, a fluke. We can’t say that now. We have to look at the rot in this society and more importantly on how politics is reported and how disinformation has gained the pernicious foothold that it has.
Trump is a contemptable creature. I’m glad Michelle Obama is showing her contempt. I bet that everybody else who is attending is wishing they had her guts. At least, that’s what I wholeheartedly believe.
Michelle Obama doesn’t owe Trump a damn thing. He said crazy things about “going after her” on the campaign trail. And Melania has flat out lied on Fox News that details of the White House living quarters were “upheld” from her — translating as the ditzy broad was told to say information was “withheld” but she can’t remember two syllable words. The Trumps are trash, trash with cash. You take away their money they’ve got nothing.

Mirror accusations is a tactic used by NAZIS. It’s when you accuse the other side of doing something YOU’VE already done or plan to do. It’s also something the other side hasn’t done or won’t do.
