We come upon the anniversary of January 6, 2021, in a few short hours, depending upon what time zone of this country you reside in. It is a day that will live in infamy. Also a day that will live in calumny, because it was the false, inflammatory statements, the abject lies that Donald Trump told his MAGA cult, which inflamed them to march to the Capitol and then smash windows and doors and break in. You saw the videos on TV and watched in horror as did we all. Foreign news outlets were aghast. I well remember the BBC taking shots of the MAGA Shaman, in particular. He became an international meme within hours — fulfilling his life’s dream, I guess. That being fifteen minutes of fame and if it’s fifteen minutes of infamy, then so be it. That will do, too.
Now we are on not only the four year anniversary of the Capitol Riot but the eight year anniversary of Donald Trump being sworn into office. And once again, on January 20, he will be sworn into office for the second and hopefully last time. Why do I say “hopefully?” Because every time I turn around there is some machination afoot to keep Trump in office. The newest theory is that Trump should run for vice president and then have the elected president resign and he serves out that person’s term. Rinse and repeat until death do us part from Trump.
Death did us part from Brian Sicknick and his family. Death did us part from a number of Capitol Police officers that day, not to mention the ones that were maimed and/or disabled. This weekend relatives of the deceased are gathered together to attempt to prevent the Inauguration of Trump. They are right. They are morally right and they are constitutionally right. But I don’t think that they will prevail. Evil has been on quite a tear for the past nine years and while Trump should not, in any sane, law abiding or decent society, be inaugurated, he will be sworn in in this one in two weeks.

There is more video available in that thread if you want to watch it. I’m sure you got more than enough the day that it happened.
Just a sad and sour footnote now, from Meidas News: CBS News Correspondent Scott Macfarlane noted that the 118th Congress officially ended with Mike Johnson refusing to hang a plaque to honor the J6 police officers who defended the Capitol, which is required by a bipartisan law passed in March 2023. He is breaking the law by refusing to hang the plaque.
He is refusing to do what he is compelled to do by law. The Speaker of the House is breaking the law — and on something symbolic like this, which would be the high moral road to take.
But the rule of law is dead in America. We have a convicted felon assuming the presidency in two weeks. What else to you need to know to convince you the rule of law is dead?

Friends, I am forced to self-promote and ask you for money. We had a bad year compared with 2023 and the end of the year has been catastrophic. Traffic died on November 5. We are a small blog and completely self-supported by ad revenue, donations, and subscriptions. If you can afford a monthly subscription that would help us out. If you can make a small donation, likewise. Our only goal is to stay in business and give you the best content we can generate. I do not want to have to put a certain number of stories behind a paywall. I want our work to be available to all. Help if you can. And thank you once again to those who subscribe and donate regularly. You are the wind beneath our wings. Thank you. Ursula

The Constitution itself states the federal oath of office all federal officials and commissioned officers of the U.S. military must take. (There is additional wording for enlisted pukes in the armed forces about obeying the lawful orders of those over them in the chain of command) It has varied little over time, and the Code of Federal Regulations (5 U.S. Code § 3331 – Oath of office) spells it out plainly:
An individual, except the President, elected or appointed to an office of honor or profit in the civil service or uniformed services, shall take the following oath: “I, AB, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.” This section does not affect other oaths required by law.
Seems awfully clear. We have a President-Elect who, while President on Jan. 6, 2021 we see on video helping incite an insurrectionist riot to prevent the counting and certification of the Electoral Votes for the individual who would succeed him. He even stated his intention to go with the mob to the Capitol and credible evidence in the form of testimony and video indicates he fought with his Secret Service detail to do just that. In addition, there is credible evidence in the form of testimony and records that this same President-Elect was aware during the time leading up to the Jan. 6 insurrection RIOT that it would take place.
Trump IS disqualified under the Constitution from holding any office of honor or trust in the United States of America. EVERYONE, from those who serve in Congress to their staffs that do not object to Trump taking office is in violation of the Oath they’ve taken. It’s that simple for me. And should be for THEM. But they are too f**king COWARDLY to due their duty, to follow the Oath they took.
I’ve taken the Oath and more than once. I felt both humbled and an enormous responsibility to live up to it. All these years later those words in the Oath still MATTER to me. For me, and so many others they weren’t just mere words I had to speak to start training to become a Marine, or later go to work as a Disaster Temporary Employee for FEMA. I believed I was taking on a sacred obligation to my country.
I know, I know. Many just recite the words and don’t give them much if any thought. However many of us do. And we sure as hell should expect our elected leaders to give the words in that Oath, and the overall intent of it more consideration than is too often the case. If fear of retribution for doing their duty stops them from doing their goddamned duty then they have no business in elected office.
I took the same oath…and I will not cooperate with the laws of this government except those, like traffic laws, which stand for public safety. I will not honor this fascist government in any way. Someday in eternity, I may have to face my five uncles who fought in WW2, and what could I say if I support the NEW NAZI government? If I was in Germany, or Europe in the late thirties, I’d be holding a gun. I don’t own one now…but I grew up with guns and, as you know, boot camp doesn’t just train you to polish boots, and learn to fold your clothes with a dress edge. I’m glad I’m not serving today with a nazi rapist leading this country. Officers in Nam were shot by their own troops when it was clear their actions were going to get everyone killed. This country is now on a suicide mission. It will take a miracle to save our asses now…and as was said in Casablanca…the nazis have outlawed miracles.
