The days of a U.S. president giving an illegal order to the military may be right around the corner — at least if we trust what comes out of the horse’s (ass’s) mouth. In this case, Donald Trump is alarmed about drone activity over New Jersey. It’s a good thing he wasn’t in Washington, D.C. during the UFO flap of 1952, God alone knows how he would have handled that one. In any event, Trump is all up in arms over the drones and something else is going on, because this is one of his more incoherent tweets. Or, maybe Melania wrote it. Nah, she probably went home from the Stock Exchange yesterday and bolted the door. He’ll see her again in January.

Absolutely Trump will shoot anything he doesn’t understand. His assessments of reality are basic: Should he eat it, fuck it, hire it or kill it? Or some combination? I’m actually suprised that Trump didn’t pick Macho Man by the Village People as his anthem. That seems more on point to me. Back to the skies of New York and New Jersey.

U.S. officials on Thursday said that they had been unable to corroborate the reported drone sightings, and suggested that many of the objects might in fact be manned aircraft, such as airplanes or helicopters.

But assurances from state and federal officials that the sightings do not indicate a threat to residents have done little to allay public concerns. Lawmakers have expressed frustration with the lack of information, and are urging the federal government to share more about its investigation.

By Friday, drone sightings had been reported in several states across the region. In New York, Gov. Kathy Hochul said she was investigating the matter with federal law enforcement agencies, as local officials received numerous reports of possible drones flying overhead.

The governor, however, assured the public that there was nothing to fear. “At this time, there’s no evidence that these drones pose a public safety or national security threat,” Ms. Hochul said in a statement on social media.

That evening, however, President-elect Donald J. Trump also weighed in, suggesting that the government was concealing information about the sightings. Otherwise, they should be shot down, he added.

Hey, let’s make sure they’re on a collision course for either Bedminster or Trump Tower, shall we? Or whatever Trump properties might be in that area. Since Trump isn’t worried about other people, let’s see how it likes it when metal hurtles down from the sky and lands on his property, wreaking havoc. Evidently, that thought doesn’t occur to him.

Or, he could be having a medical issue. Trump was on vacation more than any other president during his first term, not to mention “executive time” a euphemism that was coined to cover his voracious TV watching. Expect these things to get worse.

  1. When a lying moronic criminal gets 78 million votes after seeing him cruelly and stupidly operate for 9 years…I feel we’re way past the sign that says:DANGER! BRIDGE OUT! STOP!!!! The power of information has been lost. Those of us raised to value truth, facts, documented history, etc., are in the minority. It reminds me of my childhood, sitting in a car doing 100mph, inches from the car in front, no seat belts, driven by an enraged drunk…my dad. There was nothing I could do but let go of fear of what could and probably would happen, and pray. Clearly I survived…so there’s that. The circumstances have expanded, putting our entire history, culture, democracy, and planetary survival in the crosshairs. Given all the warnings I fully expect it to be a miracle we come through this once this madman takes the oath he has ALREADY SHIT ON! I hope I’m wrong about our collective future, but one unintended consequence of growing up with a violent drunk is: one is forced into dangerous situations and there’s no room for kidding or lying to oneself. There’s only survival. Welcome to purgatory. And we all thought the Catholics were making it up.
“Pray constantly”…St. Paul…seems like good advice.

    • Scott, if only the Repugnicans in Congress would read and heed your cogent words: “there’s no room for kidding or lying to oneself.” Most of us have arrived at that conclusion at some point(s) in our lives and dealt with dangerous situations, whereas the alleged “leaders” of the GOP have become expert at kidding and lying to themselves about the lunatic narcissist they’re allowing to destroy our country. So they kid and lie to us. The confirmation hearings for Trumpler’s corrupt, incompetent nominees will be yet another test which the spineless will fail.
