Rise and Resist With the “Come To Truth and Just Vote Blue” Group. THIS Is the Fighting Spirit We Need

You’re aware that plans to dismantle Social Security and Medicare are afoot. I’m not saying ignore this threat. I’m saying that I don’t see it happening overnight based on the razor-thin House majority the Republicans have and a united Democratic caucus. But the threat is very real. Mike Lee has said the quiet part out loud, that he intends to do away with Social Security and Mike Lee went full MAGA quite a while back. He may have been more Romney-McCain-esque in an earlier day, but color those days gone. So keep an ear to the ground and monitor all the developments that take place. We are living in an anything can happen world. But here’s a video you need to see to get into the spirit of the fight ahead. This is a gal named Portia Boulger from Appalachia a few years back, and this is the kind of passion we need to generate and harness going forward. We are in for the fight of our lives, friends.

Isn’t she refreshing? That is what it’s going to take. Now I know you are thinking, as am I, “JFC, how did we get here?” We got here because the demagogue was believed. We got here due to the growth of right-wing media, which has grown exponentially in both size and power since 2016. Muse on this for a bit:

A not-entirely-serious proposal: We are right to infantilize large segments of the voting public because they are not capable of making informed, rational choices.

And it has always been thus. We have deluded ourselves into thinking that modern Americans are different; that they have been elevated to a state superior to their ancestors in which they can be trusted to perceive the world accurately and make decisions judiciously.

The art of politics is finding a way to reach and persuade a majority of these people understanding full well that they are as children.

It is passing strange that you never hear affirmative cases for why voters choose Republicans: “These voters support Republicans because they want Policy XYZ.”

And it’s really never, “These voters support Republicans because they like rapists and think that coups are justified.”

Instead, we come up with rationalizations. They didn’t hear the truth because they’re trapped in a right-wing media ecosystem.

Or, They don’t have time to pay attention to the details. so they just go with their gut.

The assumption is always that these voters are either too benighted to understand reality4 or so limited that they function as purely reactive organisms.

I realize that this sounds terribly condescending. But again, I am not describing my views of voters, but how other people—including Trump and elected Republicans—view them.

That’s why the Trump campaign ran the trans ad a billion times. That’s why Trump nominated Kash Patel. That’s why no Republicans, anywhere, have questioned the proposed firing of Christopher Wray.

It’s because they infantilize Republican voters.

And evidently it works. That’s why we are up shits creek without a paddle. I believe in the growth of left-wing media to counter balance this. Forget about mainstream media. It’s owned by billionaire oligarchs. We’re going to have to do this ourselves. I believe in what Meidas Touch, Lincoln Project, and left-wing blogs like ourselves are doing. We are putting what happens in the lying right-wing ecosphere into context. We are debunking their propaganda.

When I get down I plan to listen to this gal, Portia. She’s got it wired. We have to Rise and Resist.
