The internet is blowing up over this one and rightfully so. Donald Trump was in Erie, Pennsylvania this afternoon doing a rally. He said a lot of cockeyed things, including the fact that he “didn’t care” what his future held in the event of a Harris victory — twice. Since the man faces three criminal trials in the near future, that does seem quite odd. But the oddest thing that he said is that, “If you had one really violent day.. .. … One rough hour. And I mean real rough. The word will get out and it will end immediately,” as a solution to crime. This was after he told stories of thieves “walking out of stores with air conditioners and refrigerators on their backs.” I’ve never seen a guy carry a refrigerator on his back. Maybe Lou Ferrigno, who played The Incredible Hulk? Here’s the idiotic comment.

You see how batshit this is. Mike Kelly is the congressman for Erie, in case you were wondering. He’s been the congressman since 2011 and he supports Trump and MAGA. So Trump proposes to empower the congressman with carte blanche to imitate the movie series “The Purge.” If you’re not familiar with that, let us look at the trailer and then you can read how the internet reacted to it.

That is some sick, dystopian imagery right there. One 12-hour block of time per year where anything goes. And we have a presidential candidate endorsing this very thing. I would say “unbelievable” but this is Trump talking.

The Intellectualist said in response that “Trump appears to endorse ‘The Purge’ as policy.”

Decision Desk HQ contributor Nick Field chimed in, “Trump literally calling for The Purge.”

Political reporter Paul Blest asked, “Did Trump watch the Purge or just independently come up with the same idea?”

Conspiracy theory journalist and expert Mike Rothschild wrote, “The Purge. He’s endorsing The Purge.”

Reporter Molly Jong-Fast simply replied, “Omg.”

University of Texas law professor Lee Kovarsky said, “People confuse telling hard truths with just being a total f—— idiot.”

Politico reporter Adam Wren said, “This is roughly the plot of the movie The Purge.”

Former presidential speechwriter Dan Cluchey said in response, “No big deal, just one of the two candidates for President calling for a ‘really violent day’ of nationwide police brutality. Don’t bother covering this as a major story, anyone.”

And let me say this: What’s to prevent “police” brutality from turning into vigilante brutality? And then we seriously are talking The Purge. That’s exactly what that movie series is about. In that scenario, you, me, everybody gets to play cop, lawyer, judge, executioner and undertaker. And Trump is no stranger to purges. He has purged the GOP of his enemies, as well you know.

I want to see how J.D. Vance spins this newest purge dialogue of Trump’s on Tuesday. Because it would be exceptionally remiss of any media outlet not to cover this and ask for clarification. So I am hopeful that this will come up at the debate as a question or that J.D. Vance can somehow weave it into one of his answers to something else.

This is one of the worst things Trump has ever said. But, that said, it would not surprise me if this gets sanewashed and dismissed as “a joke” like every other monstrous comment which comes out of this mentally ill, disgraceful substitute for a human being’s, mouth. Earlier today I made the comment that Trump’s administration and the candidte himself was a cross between the Caine Mutiny and Idiocracy. Add The Purge. Sweet Jesus. What a combination.

  1. Bloody hell. I’ll be looking out for what niece Mary has to say about this, and the two shrinks on the podcast “Shrinking Trump”. This is a public escalation of his innate cruelty and that’s scary.

  2. This “… But the oddest thing that he said is that, “If you had one really violent day.. .. … One rough hour. And I mean real rough. The word will get out and it will end immediately,” as a solution to crime…” is surely crossing a line, by Trump. It comes across as if he’s injecting his followers with enough code to gin them up for the another round of violence, post the next election, which he’s sure to lose. Such is their impressionability and human frailty. They have no rational thoughts of their own. They have no sound judgement to make, and no rational decisions to take. They mindlessly obey, comply, talk and behave as if they are directed by a man who sees and uses them both as his grift and property. He is cunning. He uses blatant lies so as to attach both their individual and collective minds to his vile, toxic and dangerous delusion, to secure what he craves and wishes. He’s fuc**d. He’s increasingly desperate. He’s more unstable. He’s declining further. He knows he’s toast. Good!

  3. Trump might want to remember that, in “The Purge” society, you needed to be either really rich or really well-connected to avoid becoming a victim of “The Purge.” And, even then, in the first movie, the main protagonist (played by Ethan Hawke) is part of that “well-connected” society and because a member of his family takes pity on someone being chased, he eventually gets killed (it also turns out that some of his neighbors are part of the “Purge” party that terrorizes the rest of his family throughout the film because the neighbors are tired of his family’s ability to “escape” the Purge).

But, what should really bother Trump is that he wouldn’t necessarily be able to escape. If one of his “trusted” Secret Service agents decided he or she was sick and tired of protecting the fat tub of lard, then that agent (or a group of agents) could “forget” to set the security system or turn it off for a few seconds to let some Purgers in–if, of course, he or they didn’t want to get their own hands dirty. Then again, it is “Purge” and, as the motto goes, “ALL crime is legal” and apparently no one gets punished for anything–not even for murdering/assassinating the President. (Hell, on “Purge” night, one could even go so far as to post all sorts of threatening messages against the President–even without acting on any of the threats–and get a pass. They couldn’t even be denied access to a White House tour or meeting with the President.)

    • Indeed, good point Joseph, as you have written above “… what should really bother Trump is that he wouldn’t necessarily be able to escape… [a/the purge]”.

    • In the event of something even approximating a “Purge” happening, I’m pretty sure those who actually need security protection, especially because they are worthless pieces of shit, won’t be getting any and will soon leave the land of the living. Fools like von shitzinpants really do not understand they’d be the first ones “purged”.

  4. So long as the likes of him and his trashy family are taken out, along with all the other one-percenters, I’m pretty ok with this. Purging the oligarchs and leaders of craporations is a necessary event to fix our nation and progress into the future.

  5. If doing a lot of criming, and not being held accountable for it, gets crime out of your system…why does Donald keep committing crimes?! JUST. ASKING.!! 🤯
