Another day, another meltdown on Truth Social. Donald Trump’s posts display a clear alternate reality, a mix of desperation and fantasy. He’s also quite angry at Kamala Harris for endorsing a version of no tax on tipped income. That’s “a TRUMP idea,” he brays. The comments threads on Truth Social are drop dead hilarious these days. “Kamala is really dumb,” is a common theme. And you know what? I can’t fault them for thinking that an attorney general or a United States senator could be “really dumb” because take a look at Tommy Tuberville or Lauren Boebert. Or Louie Gohmert, Paul Gosar any number of others. There are morons in government. Have you noticed they all have an R after their names?

Nothing wroing with Donald this morning, he’s doing just fine. As to the no tax on tips issue, it’s more complicated than it sounds.

In response, a Harris campaign official told NPR that the vice president’s policy proposal is distinct from Trump’s — and she intends to deliver on it.

“As president, she would work with Congress to craft a proposal that comes with an income limit and with strict requirements to prevent hedge fund managers and lawyers from structuring their compensation in ways to try to take advantage of the policy,” the official, who isn’t authorized by the campaign to speak publicly, said. “Vice President Harris would push for the proposal alongside an increase in the minimum wage.”

Regardless of its origin and ownership, the no tax on tips idea is gaining bipartisan political steam. On Capitol Hill, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, introduced the No Tax on Tips Act in July with the support of Democratic Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, from Nevada, and the powerful Culinary Workers Union Local 226. A companion bill — introduced by Florida Rep. Bryon Donalds — is also making its way through the House.

In a nutshell, this policy has to be carefully crafted because the downside for tipped income is that if you don’t report it, you can harm yourself later when it comes to retirement time. I trust Harris to figure out a way to do it for the maximum benefit to the worker. As usual, Trump has taken a complex issue and made it uber simple and it’s not.

As to Harris getting “hammered” in the polls, maybe Trump could show us which ones. Last we knew, as of yesterday, Harris remains ahead by 5 percentage points in Michigan, 2 percentage points in Pennsylvania and 6 percentage points in Wisconsin, with a fading Kennedy averaging just 5 percent support, according to Politico. Harris is as much as 4 points ahead in Pennsylania in some polls.

Trump is relying on aggregator polls, which is taking different polls by different organizations and averaging them. The science of it starts to break down when doing that and scientific polling is a dark art at best. It’s great for predicting trends but when you get down to the nitty gritty, in close races, it can be off by quite a bit as we’ve seen time and again. But according to Trump in the “REAL” polls, he’s doing great and Harris is getting hammered.

Keep telling yourself that, Donald, keep telling yourself that.

  1. So very tired of this blowhard and the stinking slurry he spews from both ends. I can’t wait for the day when we get him tucked nicely in a cell with no phone, and we never have to hear from him again. Just can’t wait for the silence.

  2. The “no tax on tips” idea has been a rallying cry, at least for dems, since tips were required to be submitted by the employers as income. Once again his lips are moving therefore he is lying. They were probably always considered income by tax authorities but it wasn’t until employers had to include them, or an arbitrary number based on a certain percentage, when they filed their quarterlies. If you ever needed a comparison between the haves and the have nots, tipped workers would be a good group to choose for the have nots. They weren’t making it hand over fist in the first place and they’re making a hell of a lot less now.
