Right Wing Outlet News Max and their talking head Todd Starnes apparently do not have much faith in Trump’s protestations of innocence or do not have the least idea of how any of this works… both of which are certainly possibilities.
Starnes today posted a tweet encouraging Trump to abscond New York ahead of the jury’s verdict and while court is in session – a clear violation of the law. This although Trump will certainly immediately appeal the verdict should it not go his way and so would almost certainly be able to flit about as he likes once court is adjourned today or tomorrow.
Do these folks have any idea how stupid they are?
President Trump needs to get out of New York City RIGHT NOW! Fly back to Mar-a-Lago or another state that will provide him safe harbor.

Good idea, you do that Donald.
So you’re suggesting he should break the law some more?
— Kylo Ken (@starwarsstanboy) May 29, 2024
Apparently.
He won't get far with the bone spurs.
— The Lincoln Project (@ProjectLincoln) May 29, 2024
🤣🤣🤣
Or better fly to Moscow where Putin would give his sanctuary. You now he's going to end up there anyway. Let's just cut to the chase.
— John A. Fetto (@jaf7) May 29, 2024
Yup
You realize he's free on bail right? So your brilliant suggestion is he become a fugitive?
That's a great idea that would land him right in jail
Safe harbor Bahahahahahahaha

🙄🙄🙄
This isn’t going the way Todd here expected.
— Kylo Ken (@starwarsstanboy) May 29, 2024
Nope.
Oh. You mean like a SANCTUARY STATE? 😂😂😂

😏
The states cooperate under the Uniform Criminal Extradition Act (UCEA) or through the provisions of the U.S. Constitution, specifically Article IV, Section 2, which addresses the return of individuals charged with crimes.

Todd ain’t so bright…
Oh, that is a brilliant idea. pic.twitter.com/rb9peIktyY

🤣🤣🤣
Looks like we’ll know the verdict before long, Todd.
Maybe dumba** will still take your advice.

Hey Todd why don’t YOU help him flee so you can be charged with a felony also! Put your ass where your cowardly mouth is at present. Coward.
A little follow-up on what Rick Harrold noted in his response: States have actually resisted adhering to the Extradition Act and the Constitutional provision but only in fairly limited situations. In most cases, the fugitive is facing charges that *could* result in the death penalty and they flee to a state that doesn’t allow for the death penalty, even in the most serious of crimes. That doesn’t mean the fugitive won’t still be returned (even if the original state refuses to rule out the death penalty) because those cases are judged on the specifics of the crime.
Nope. If Trump had even given “fleeing” any consideration at all, he’d have to go to a COUNTRY that doesn’t extradite American fugitives (though, it’s worth noting even some countries with extradition treaties have refused to extradite criminals depending on the situation).
