Can’t say as how this is surprising, but you would think that at some point the GOP would realize that a Speaker is not a sorcerer and can’t simply wave a wand and get what the rabid MAGA caucus wants. But that appears to be the price of holding the gavel in this day and age. Mike Johnson could lose the gavel as soon as tomorrow morning. In point of fact, he might be relieved. But then the question becomes, who replaces him?
The bottom line appears to be this: 1. The MAGA caucus doesn’t have the votes to stop the minibus bill from passing; 2. But they could oust Johnson, if they want to. And maybe they will. Maybe the House Speakership will become a revolving honor, like when I was in the 5th Grade, we voted on a class president once a month and one time it was me. Maybe that’s how this will be, Marge could be the next Speaker, then how about Jim Jordan? Or, Paul Gosar wielding the gavel would be a real screamer, maybe that’s a possibility?
Wait, I’ve got it: Louie Gohmert could come back and be of service. The Speaker doesn’t have to be a sitting Rep, so Louie could come back and perhaps put forth a bill to change the orbit of the moon in order to combat climate change.
Or, they could ask My Kevin to come back. I believe this was once broached and he was interested in the gig. Then again, Speaker Jeffries has always had a ring to it, and considering the state of the House right now, any Republican legislators who are still serious about actual governance, assuming that there are any, might be of a mind to stop the constant infighting. It does get old.
Let’s wait and see what the morrow brings.
The House Democratic caucus should make a criminal referral to the DOJ of all Republicans in the House and Senate that they know gave any kind of aid and comfort to the insurrection and then file suite against the Republican party to have these and those in state capitals stripped of their party affiliation. They need to quit pussy footing about the traitors and quit acting like this is normal times. Force the treason to be talked about from now till dooms day.
Also, did I see the story about the President of Honduras being busted for drug trafficking? In the story he agreed to hold all the migrants coming through his country for Trump as long as Trump’s DOJ looked the other way on his drug business. When Trump lost they went after the SOB and he let all the migrants pour into the US under Biden’s watch.
Which is the least Trump and his sycophants would do if the shoe was on the other foot. They will arrest, prosecute, deport, imprison and execute innocent people who oppose them. He wanted the military to fire on unarmed peaceful protesters exercising their constitutional rights. FACT. He is inciting the next violent coup as we type with every word and action he takes. Folks these are murderous nazis and we better wake up to that fact.
Whenever the Dems regain the House, missione one: Investigate the origins of the investigation AND investigate the 5th Column. Life is irony.
