“A lie leads a man from a grove into a jungle,” goes the saying. And all the lies in Trump world have led this country from amber waves of grain into a dark place of sucking bogs of negativity and the disfiguring disease that is fear itself. This Iowa state senator, Lynn Evans, knows he’s making lies up out of whole cloth. And he does it fearlessly. This is the new deformed thing that carries the label “GOP,” this is MAGA talking.

When Mitt Romney retired recently he said that, “It’s pretty clear that the party is inclined to a populist demagogue message.” That’s wild understatement. The truth is that the GOP is now hellbent towards a fascist theocratic takeover. This kind of talk that you will hear below is to gin up fear and make you believe that only a strongman like the dictators that Trump so admires can lead the country.

That’s a great line coming from anybody but particularly a former Republican congressman. When Riggleman was in office, things were relatively normal, meaning pre-MAGA. Here’s more of the religious hogwash about how Trump is a man of God.

I love the last line, “If it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them or else you may be seen fighting against God.” Doesn’t that sound like justification for a theocracy to you? I can see it now, this is what they’ll be teaching grade school kids: “And the President was Of God and therefore, he announced that he would stay in the White House until God called him home, and attempts to have him obey the Constitution and leave after four years were considered not of God, but efforts to fight against God and defy His Will.”

“And so a bounty was put upon the heads of the blasphemous Democrats and each MAGA believer was given a discharge from paying taxes forever, if they killed at least four Democrats. So they stopped paying taxes and paid everything to their Mango Messiah lord  instead.

“And lo, Route 66 was renamed ‘the Mango Road’ and Trump said he would fix it one day, if Ivanka and Jared managed to get infrastructure week together, ever. But after a few decades of neglect and no infrastructure, all the roads and bridges in the country collapsed and then the United States began to slip back technologically and the horse and buggy came back into style.”

You think I jest, don’t you? Let me quote the apostle Matt: “The swamp is on the run, MAGA is ascendant, and if you don’t think that moving from Kevin McCarthy to MAGA Mike Johnson shows the ascendance of this movement, and where the power of the Republican Party truly lies, then you’re not paying attention.” And so it was written.

Here’s more idiocy from Iowa today.

And here’s the Revenge Roster, and of course you know whose name is at the top.

And then there’s today’s geography lesson.

Maybe on Earth 2 where he lives. Here on Earth 1 Hungary touches upon Ukraine slightly, but is nowhere near the Russian federation. I would say that Trump’s thinking of Belarus but I doubt he’s ever heard of it.

And he hauled this tired old chestnut out of the fire, even though even MAGA doesn’t laugh at it anymore.

And now DeSantis is the big strong man with tears in his eyes.

And yet another old chestnut. The man could use some new material.

There’s more but nothing that you haven’t seen a couple of dozen times already. The scary part is not what Trump is babbling, it’s the theocratic maneuvering and the bald-faced lies about the FBI that are the noteworthy parts here.

Another year, folks. Six trials, lord only knows how many emotional outbursts, the obligatory GOP convention, unless Ronna gives up and the GOP just crowns King Donald, and how it all shakes down in the end is anybody’s guess at this point.

And no I don’t know what “SomeThingTrump” means on the chyron. What it means to me is a play on “something wicked this way comes.” If we could just get the Some Thing Trump to go back where it came from, we’d all be better off.

  1. Hell, I think it’s only right that the FBI should open files and investigate MAGAts. The FBI *IS* supposed to keep an eye on persons suspected of terrorism and treason.

And we ALL know that Donald, if he manages to get back in the White House, will have *his* FBI do just that to anyone/everyone he considers a “political opponent.” Hell, he tried to do that during his first stint in the White House; he just couldn’t manage to find someone willing to be that much of a sniveling, conniving toady. This time around, though, I can only imagine there’s a long list of sycophants just waiting to do their master’s bidding.

  2. 40 million Democrats didn’t vote in 2016.
That 40 million that decided to stay home instead of make sure that narcissist never got near our White House did all of their fellow democrats a great disservice that’s has cost us a decade if our lives we will never get back.
If those 40 million would’ve voted, there would have been no insurrection. If those 40 million would’ve voted our democracy that we have all enjoyed wouldn’t be hanging by a thread.
    Your vote matters.
The Republican CULT wants you to believe that nothing you do matters…that they are all powerful and you are nothing but a plaything….you are woke, you are stupid and if you are not white and straight, you don’t belong.
You do belong. These nefarious, racist people that hijacked the republicans are the worst of our population, and the good people outnumber them.
ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS VOTE…THATS HOW WE BEAT THEM, AND THATS HOW WE EXTERMINATE THEM.
Your power is your vote. Your voice is your vote, that’s why the republicans want to take it from you…because they know that is how we take their power.

    • Where do you get the “40 million Democrats” figure from? If you’re presuming that figure based on the voter turnout (total votes cast came to 136,669,237 and voter turnout was estimated at 60.1%; this means there was a potential total electorate of just over 227 million voters), then you have a potential for “40 million Republican voters” as well with some 10 million “independent” voters.
The REAL issue was that too many Democrats chose to cast votes for someone other than Hillary Clinton (Bernie Sanders, for instance, actually got 111,000 votes AND 1 electoral vote), especially in close states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan (those 3 states went to Trump by a combined total of just 77,744). It’s really more of a matter of WHERE those “40 million Democrats” live. Clinton won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes but losing the vote in PA, WI and MI by less than 78,000 shows you can’t just say that “40 million Democrats” getting out and voting (and, bear in mind, “mail-in voting” is done by people who “stay at home” so, maybe some rephrasing is needed) would’ve kept Trump from winning the Electoral College. As I pointed out above, there were roughly 90 million eligible voters who, for whatever reason, didn’t vote in 2016, so even saying that 40 million of those people were Democrats means that the other 50 million had to have included a buttload of Republican voters (or independents who would’ve voted for Trump as well).
