Donald Trump’s thumbs are going to fall off after he’s done cursing out Ron DeSantis on Truth Social — not to mention wiping all the ketchup off of his phone screen. Sheesh. This is the equivalent of declaring war openly on Trump, telling NBC — or any major news outlet — that the 2020 Election was decided fair and square and Trump lost.

DeSantis continued to discuss all the ways he believed the previous presidential election was not perfect. But pressed further, he clearly stated that Trump lost.

“But respectfully, you did not clearly answer that question,” Burns said. “And if you can’t give a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on whether or not he lost —”

“No, of course he lost,” DeSantis said, adding, “Joe Biden’s the president.”

Yes, those screams you hear in the distance are coming from Bedminster. And it wasn’t too long before the recriminations from Team Trump started coming in.

“Ron DeSantis should really stop being Joe Biden’s biggest cheerleader,” Trump spokesman Steve Cheung told NBC News.

DeSantis’ comments come just days after Trump pleaded not guilty to charges that he broke the law by trying to overturn the 2020 election.

And at a campaign stop in Iowa on Friday, DeSantis also strongly dismissed theories that the election was stolen, saying they “did not prove to be true.”

This is the New Ron, folks, Mr. “slit their throats on Day One,” that Ron. New York Times:

Now, Mr. DeSantis’s increasingly aggressive stance suggests that Mr. Trump’s legal problems have sent his Republican competitors looking for some way to take advantage. While none of his top rivals are openly attacking him over his latest criminal charges, they are trying to press on his weaknesses — acknowledging reality and bursting the bubble of denial that he and many Republicans live in. […]

Mr. DeSantis’s latest answer, while accurate, may put him at odds with much of the Republican base. Although the 2020 election was widely found to have been secure, roughly 70 percent of Republican voters say that President Biden’s victory was not legitimate, according to a CNN poll conducted last month. Mr. Trump continues to insist that he was the rightful winner.

So far, of the most prominent candidates, former Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and former Vice President Mike Pence have spoken out most strongly against Mr. Trump. Mr. Christie is running on an explicitly anti-Trump platform. Mr. Pence has said that Mr. Trump deserves the “presumption of innocence” but has also said he would testify in the former president’s trial over Jan. 6, 2021, if called to do so.

“The American people deserve to know that President Trump asked me to put him over my oath to the Constitution, but I kept my oath and I always will,” Mr. Pence told CNN. “And I’m running for president in part because I think anyone who puts themselves over the Constitution should never be president of the United States.”

Well, that’s Ronnie’s Reboot for you, he’s telling Trump that he lost the election, which is pure heresy, and telling the world, which is even worse. And Mike Pence is telling voters (not that anyone is listening to Mike Pence, but still) that Trump put himself above the Constitution. Not terrific, not by any measure, but considering how the Republicans usually have their necks buried in the sand up to their tailbones, not bad. A move in the right direction. Too little and probably too late, but a move in the right direction nonetheless.

  1. By the logic of Trumpworld, when somebody admits that the duly elected president of the United States actually is the president of the United States, that person is “his biggest cheerleader.”

  2. Cults are logic and fact free zones…usually occupied by liars, thieves, hypocrites, and a category that would encapsulate all the reasons ignorance is elevated to a religion.

  3. Sorry Malcolm X…I will alter your insight by saying anyone who stands for nothing will SAY anything. Right ronny?
