It looks like Alan Dershowitz needs another “attention fix”, or is angling for a legal consulting fee from Trump. Or both. Who knows with this guy anymore? But paraphrasing the famous moment from Poltergeist “He’s baaaack!” He’s put out a new article with tales of a new (even worse he says) version of McCarthyism, a “Democratic cabal” of (so Dersh would have you believe) not at all notable legal talent. Just your regular, super liberal even “get Trump no matter what it takes” people. Their mission is to go after any and every lawyer who has represented Trump, say for example all those bogus post 2020 election lawsuits. Wow Dersh!
Of course the fact these lawyers Dershowitz says are so unfairly being persecuted had the universal trait of getting promptly tossed out of court. Sometimes with a tad of sine subtle admonishment from the judge – a politely in legal language version of “What the hell were you thinking trying to file a piece of garbage like this? Don’t come back to my court with that kind of crap again!” in the process. Anyway, Dersh tell us some truly “bigly” icons in the legal world, are being targeted. Truly excellent like totally top of the legal profession lawyers like Sydney Powell, John Eastman, Rudy G. and whatnot. Oh, and let’s not forget Boris Epsnteyn. Jenna Ellis, Joe DiGenova… A truly all-star group of the very finest legal brains, and totally ethical too! For some extra seasoning lessor names are on the target list, like some of those fake electors that cast ballots who also happen to be lawyers.
They are all in the crosshairs for what Dershowitz insists is nothing but the only in awful Democrat’s minds the sin of working for Trump. No other reason. It surely couldn’t be because they advanced bat-sh*t crazy legal theories, made up stuff out of thin air they had nothing that could be admitted as evidence in court to back them up and went out and shouted them on TV and social media. Both before court and then again after judges, even Trump appointed ones all the way up to SCOTUS told them to pound sand. Granted, I’m not a lawyer but if I embarrassed my profession like they did, a profession that ranks down there with Nazi medical rsearcher to begin with I’d worry just a little bit that other lawyers might decide I needed an official trip to the legal woodshed for a whuppin!
Maybe I’m a tad off-base but I don’t think I’m the only person who tried to pay close attention and even read some of the legal filings and thought that if things weren’t already so high profile and ugly a lot of those judges would have notified the Bar associations that credentialed some of these folks. Then again, lawyers (and judge are lawyers too) really, really hate filing formal complaints on their fellow lawyers to Bar associations.
So just who are these evil, heartless lawyers persecuting the “very fine people” who’ve tried to serve up heapings of Tumpian excrement in legal filings that got laughed out of court? Just who is this Dr. Evil inspired and funded 65 Project? Who are these to-a-person foaming at the mouth crazed liberals? Well the linked article notes one of the Board members is former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle. Ok, you “got” us Dersh. But wait a minute, right after that the article notes another Board member is… Paul Rosenzweig. Federalist Society Member (and you know how crazy liberal those people are!) who was also Senior Counsel to Ken Starr during Whitewater. Then there are regular members, which include a former Chief Justice of Of Utah (a known hotbed of radical liberalism!) Christine Durham.
You know, I somehow have a different take on this group than the authors of that Axios article about them I just linked to, and Dershowitz’s view of them too. Seems they didn’t have all that high opinion of some of his more recent Constitutional theories advanced to support Trump any more than so many legal experts who trashed them on TV did. Maybe, just maybe a bi-partisan group of legal somebodies decided it’s time to do a little cleaning up of their profession. At least the high profile part that gets all of them too much negative attention on a regular basis in the national news.
So poor Donald Trump, who Dersh even acknowledges is a “difficult client” who is also known for stiffing his lawyers is getting turned down by all the top lawyers down there in southern FL. And we already know why Trump doesn’t want at least one of the guys who showed up for him at his arraignment to handle the trial – he’s got his own legal malpractice case against him to fight off. In a rare fit of clarity and halfway decent judgment Trump determined maybe the guy he’d been so proud to have hired might have his own priorities instead of his (Trump’s) in the months ahead.
Look, I can understand lawyers from top firms not wanting to have anything to do with Trump just because he’s such a difficult client. Losing looks bad, even when your other clients know the loss is that difficult client’s fault for not letting the lawyer handle things. And Trumps reputation for not paying up is another good reason to steer clear. Then there are the firms other clients, who bring in a lot more revenue to the firm than Trump ever could who will find some other law firm to represent them. Any one of those three would make it tough for Trump but all three?
Yes, I get that a great lawyer who’s got guts and believes in the system, and that everyone deserves the best possible defense will take on even a really unpopular client in a really unpopular case. But Trump has spent literally decades sowing the seeds, and them watering them into healthy plants that are the thicket he’s now smack dab in the middle of. Like that prickly plant gorse over in Scotland. If Trump knocked a golf ball into it he’d never in a million years go after it. And neither would Dershowitz! Trump is now in a tiny bare ground spot in the middle of a gigantic patch of that stuff. He can’t get out without his skin being ripped to shreds. And no one can go in there and rescue him without doing the same to themselves. How much money would it take YOU to wade through a hundred yards of that stuff and trample a path so Trump could get out? (and the EMT’s could come in and rescue YOU?) Not to mention all the medical costs, being flown to a trauma center and endless cosmetic surgeries to make you look sort of normal again.
So yeah – Trump is having trouble finding actual good (not great – he’ll never get that but he’d settle for good at this point) legal talent to defend himself in a case his favorite pet judge might not be able (or even willing anymore) to save him from being convicted in.
So Alan Dershowitz is having a sad and is jumping up and down so we will see it.
Still I have to admit for a while after reading Dersh’s latest missive I smiled. Alas, then I started wondering why in the hell Dershowitz who also lamented his loss of social status (and revenue too) didn’t have the sense to keep the hell off the radar. Maybe he’s hoping Trump is desperate enough to toss some money his way as a “consultant.” Or maybe since he no longer has Epstein and sidekick Maxwell to secure nubile young things to give him massages complete with “through the skivvies” happy endings he needs some kind of attention.
Personally, since he’d shut up for long enough I’d forgotten about him I wish he’d stayed that way instead of this latest whine-fest of “poor Donald Trump.”

I wonder how long it took him to convince TV producers that he had something important to say. Nobody cares, especially the folks at Martha’s Vineyard that he really misses.
If he hadn’t gone so far off the reservation in supporting crazy-a$$ed Constitutional arguments and making up some of his own bat-sh*t crazy ones in defense of Trump he might well have kept most of his friends. But you can’t defend Constitutional principles including the right to a lawyer, much less the very best you can afford by abandoning long-cherished legal views because you live in a super exclusive AND expensive enclave and need money so badly you whore out everything you once stood for. If Dersh wanted people to hang with him in the Vinyard instead of avoid him like a bad smell he shouldn’t have developed a fetish for committing bestiality with skunks!
What a dimwit, he neglects to mention that it’s all around the legal circles that you must if you want to be paid, get a cheque from the trumpster for 3 million up front. Because Donnie is known for not paying his legal teams!!!
Damn. I thought he was in jail for statutory rape. Just kidding. I guess all of us get carried away sometimes.
Wow, he has turned into such a whiny little bitch.
Why hasn’t Dershowitz–if he so strongly believes that Donald is a wholly innocent victim of this massive persecution scheme–offered to represent Trump PRO BONO?
I guess he hasn’t thought of that. I mean, there are plenty of people in the legal profession who will take cases pro bono when they believe the defendant is being treated unfairly by “the system.” I just suppose Dersh has forgotten that’s even a possibility–after decades of high-paying gigs, who’d want to do something for free when you can score some big bucks (well, not by working for Trump obviously)?
With the Donald’s well-known reticence for paying anyone, it’s equally likely that any lawyers he ‘hires’ will end up representing him pro bono anyway.
Especially if he loses
Given that attorneys are some of the most loathed people in the country, you’d think they would have thicker skins. Who knew they were such little bitches in need of protecting.
Dersh needs to stop embarrassing himself. He’s pathetic.
Orange Jesus doesn’t need no stinking morals to represent him. Everything he’s ever done, thought, or said, is the PERFECT WILL OF GOD! Only us godless heathens think he, his God, and his rabble, should go take a flying phuck at a moving camel. Of course, he’ll deal with all of us when he’s ordained king, pope, and the messiah.
mortals…damn phone thinks it knows what word to use better than what I type.
This is so asinine and Seems like pure projection.
Trump is intimidating potential Trump lawyers….
Nobody else is intimidating, or needs to intimidate, potential Trump lawyers any more because Trump is, has been and no doubt will continue to do an shockingly outstanding DIY job on it with no assistance needed.
He intimidates them by dragging out payments,
He intimidates them by lying to them,
He intimidates them by hiring nuts like Sydney and Rudy to lie for him which is bound to lead to sanctions and even disbarment,
He intimidates them by turning on them like a rabid mink if they ever disagree or embarrass his Holiness in public over anything.
Trump is Trump’s biggest problem, he’s a self-made failure.
No wonder kind of smart people like lawyers are fleeing in droves today.
Your list of ways Trump intimidates lawyers (which Dersh of course didn’t want to talk about!) is just stuff we know. What we can assume from what we’ve seen such as the number of times he humiliated say his first AG Jeff Sessions is that he privately tells lawyers “You WILL do what I tell you or I’ll ruin you.” Even Barr at one point gave in and we know this because he appointed Durham as a Special Counsel. I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for Biliruben Barr or abuse he took from Trump. After all he pretty much begged to become AG again specifically to protect Trump from Mueller. And from himself as well. However, setting aside my hatred of Barr I have to admit he knows his stuff and is a hellva lawyer. He knew EXCACTLY where the line was when he obstructed justice in his handling of the Mueller Investigation and report and though he bumped right up against it and even put a foot over it at times he didn’t go so far as to leave himself open to prosecution. However, looking at what was going on even before the 2020 election & for sure afterwards he knew damn well he couldn’t do what Trump demanded of him without winding up being a criminal defendant himself. And in DC his odds of that turning him eventually into a convicted felon so he got out. He still wanted to protect Trump but wasn’t about to risk jail for him. However we can be sure Trump threatened Barr privately far more than we know and Dershowitz damn well knows it. Hell, he’s probably talked to Barr a couple of times since and knows the truth. But to curry favor with Trump and maybe make some money as a legal consultant Dersh ignored that too when writing his “poor Donald Trump” missive.
He’s just mad he’s a pariah on the Vineyard. My best friend is a native American Indian from there. They weren’t fond of the rich white people to begin with. I’m sure they can’t stand his sorry a$$.
