Lawrence O’Donnell just had El Pendejo Presidente’s niece Mary, a clinical psychologist on his show tonight. And former US Attorney Andrew Weissmann asked her a question. He asked her what her uncles motive was in taking all of those classified documents.
And Mary’s answer blew His Lowness out of the water. Lawrence, there could only be one reason. Money. In my family money wasn’t just the most important thing, it was the only thing. Everything else was secondary. If Donald took those documents, he took them with an eye as to what he could get for them.
She went on to skewer his children too. That’s why we’ve seen his daughter Ivanka draw back from Donald since he left the White Hose. Donald is no longer an asset to her, in fact he is now a direct threat to her personal business branding, and so she’s drawn back from her association with him.

“Stable Genius” Trump probably figured he could get way more than a measly 18 million for the stuff he had. He didn’t get that after the Presidential Records Act was passed in 1978, this coul not happen. Plus, this material didn’t even belong to him. Plus, most of it was highly classified and his possession of it was a threat to national security. Other than that, it was a brilliant stratagem.

priscianus Yes I checked it out and to be sure the Presidential Papers Act was signed into law because another crook Nixon had also in his possession illegal tapes he had recorded of foreign officials, dignitaries, and who have you, recorded in his office for his own private use. This was a grouse invasion of peoples privacy, but the Government had not encountered a crime like that before, the tech wasn’t available before Nixon’s time in office. But as soon as the means came along it didn’t take a sneaky little Republican very long to find a way to use it for evil and not for good. As always though, watch the bouncing ball, it was the coverup that fried Nixon’s goose, in the same way coverup is what is landing that whole group of Swamp Drainers, and Trump too in jail! The coverup caught Clinton, Nixon, and now a whole slew of courageous Swamp Drainers is going to jail for……you guessed it….. coverup!!!

I was going to say this very thing. I’m surprised that this statement isn’t getting more air time because to me, it is the defining statement of his theft of classified documents.
Yes until the Presidential Papers Act was passed it was a courteous understanding between parties to allow papers which might be described as personal to that outgoing President. This was for Presidential Libraries and personal bequeaths the former President might make on leaving office. But make no mistake about it, Departing Presidents were not given carte blanch to rifle through Secret Documents and other sensitive papers at will. An example is this. The letter written to D Trump by Kim Jung Un was written to D Trump and belongs to D Trump eventually it will be returned to the former President. But stealing Nuke Codes isn’t on that list and won’t be returned without a jail sentence in the interim. But the Presidential Papers Act leaves no wiggle room for this slippery little eel. He’s fricasseed, Southern Style! He’ll probably get other papers returned as well, like the e-mails from Hillary on Anthony Weaners lap top. Should be entertaining for someone with 20 years to kill.
