The Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg is expected to indict “Individual One,” or Donald Trump, on the Cohen matter next week or the week after at the latest, according to Laurence O’Donnell on MSNBC last night, though Maggie Haberman thinks that jury nullification will prevent any conviction in this country. Even in liberal Manhattan, a skilled jury specialist need only find one juror who is hidden MAGA to the core, and that’s it, hung jury. That’s Maggie Haberman’s theory about the impending indictment. Try him again? No, you put him through trial already. It’s about accountability; going through a trial is the punishment, at least in the Bragg case, where Cohen did three years.
Why is everyone convinced Trump is about to be indicted? Because Alvin Bragg invited Trump to testify before the grand jury next week and that never happens if they are A) Not going to indict and B) Don’t have the goods, C) – As an add-on, no sensible person testifies, either. The target is always the last person asked to testify. So, if Trump says “No,” then Trump could be indicted any day. One would hope that would be the dam break and Georgia and Florida Files would soon follow.
Suppose you didn’t know about the invitation to testify and didn’t know that it meant Trump was about to be indicted. In that case, you’d know anyway by watching Trump’s Truth Social account, where Trump attacks Bragg, puts the prosecution on Jews, and accuses the prosecutors (Black) as being racists, in other words – the bottom of the barrel:

Notice “Soros-backed D.A.” it means “The Jews are in control.” If all they wanted to get was “Trump” why did Cohen go to prison?
The Democrats are using their Prosecutors to try and steal another Presidential Election. The only candidate they don’t want to run against is “TRUMP,” me, despite their DISINFORMATION campaign to the contrary. I beat them twice, did MUCH BETTER the second time, and they don’t want to do it again — Will be a lot tougher for them to Cheat and Rigg the Election, and that’s why they are using their City, State, and Federal Prosecutors. Republicans in Congress are watching closely. DOJ SHOULD STOP!
This has nothing to do with the election, but Trump must make it about the election. At this point, he just wants anyone to stop this train. Furthermore, as you read this, remember that Trump promised to send the military into “cities like San Francisco and Chicago,” where the D.A.s aren’t enforcing the law properly. He means NYC, and it’s part martial law, part letting Trump decide to whom the law applies.

He will be indicted in the next two weeks. That does not mean, however, that he’ll be convicted. But at least he’ll finally have to face an actual criminal charge. And, what he’s really sweating, is that the first is always the hardest and it could lead to an avalanche.

As you noted Jason, indictment IS the equal justice. Any case that goes to trial is never a guarantee. Remember OJ? A lot of us wondered how in the world did he walk with all the forensic evidence against him. Well, and I’m not relitigating his case, the fact is the black folks used that opportunity to get back at the cops and the legal system in LA no matter the evidence.There were decades of police abuse against the black community and the courts backing that abuse. Then you throw in circumstances. An example was a few weeks prior, a Korean store owner shot and killed an unarmed black female teenager over some minor dispute in the store. She didn’t go to jail. God knows how much the community has endured before or since. If there were unfair advantages, it was the fact OJ was a celebrity and had millions to spend on his defense. A poor defendant would have more than likely gone to prison. That being said, many thought Murdough in south carolina would walk, given the money and his family’s hold over the legal system for eight decades. Didn’t happen. You just never know. There are those who say don’t indict without a guarantee of conviction. Please tell me what guarantees do any of us have in this life. We all know better. Not to mention, bringing the first ever indictment will make it easier for the other prosecutors to move forward. Once you’re tainted officially, the general public views you differently. Despite the fact there may be a juror who INTENDS to prevent conviction, let’s make them also go through the process. We are a nation of laws for better or worse, and nothing human beings create will ever be perfect. We all know that fact also. So Alvin, save YOUR reputation by doing your job. Otherwise, resign and let someone who believes in the law take over.
