We don’t know how John Fetterman is doing. He remains hospitalized for severe depression. It is possible that he may choose to focus on himself and step down (The Pennsylvania governor (Democrat) would appoint a replacement until the 2024 election). He may be discharged feeling recharged, feeling better about himself, his family, and the opportunities in front of him. One can serve as effectively as anyone, even if unable to interpret a conversation accurately. Every argument in the Senate can be converted to writing almost instantaneously. Ask any court reporter, never mind computers that can do it even more quickly.

But imagine not being able to readily understand your kids? (Even immediate conversion to writing would be frustrating.) On top of that, a stroke itself can cause depression and changes in mood. Fetterman bravely checked into the hospital with complete transparency, “severe depression.”

The MAGAs on Twitter are going insane because they’re sure that someone “hid” something from them when, in fact, Fetterman was quite open about his condition, even participating in a debate and giving interviews (translated into written words). Pennsylvania elected him, saying just as much about what they thought of Mehmet Oz and the Republicans. The MAGAs presume that they would have elected Oz if the Pennsylvanians ” knew” about Fetterman’s condition.

Sorry, but one gets the feeling that the Democratic challenger could have been a blank line with a “TBD” on it and likely win, which is not to take away from John Fetterman’s appeal, competence, and warmth.

Now, liberals can be cruel, too. I’ve seen some awful stuff lobbed at MAGAs. (I’ve lobbed my share.) But I have never seen anyone on the Left take perverse satisfaction or joy in someone suffering from serious health issues. Every. Single. Time. that I write about Junior’s “hyper” nature, I note that I hope he gets help soon. How these MAGAs can live with themselves carrying so much hatred… I’ve never seen this:

There is no August 18th deadline. The governor appoints anyone who passes or cannot serve until the next election.

Perhaps she took the kids to Canada not to “flee” but to help distract them from worrying about dad? Which makes more sense? Often people in the initial phase of treatment for depression are kept rather isolated at first, then slowly introduced back into their world.

We are supposed to trust this guy on “press release coming,” and exactly why would the Democrats hide anything about Fetterman’s condition?

How fcking stupid is the person ABOVE! If there was something preventing Fetterman from voting into the future, the PA governor and the Democrats would want a replacement in the Senate as fast as possible. If one simply “thinks” for a second, their sheer stupidity comes ringing through.

  4. Considering all the GOP scarecrows currently sitting in the House (and I’m not sure that, even if they did go to the Wizard, they’d be asking for a brain), these deplorables (boy, did Hillary pick an accurate term) don’t really have any room to be pointing fingers at Fetterman.

  5. Having worked in traumatic brain injury programs and having run psychiatric assessments & admissions at two hospitals, including Duke, John is proving to be an exceptionally honest politician. What’s really crazy is these evil bastards thinking, in their blind arrogance, that neither brain injury or depression could strike them. WRONG! Hey wingnuts…doesn’t the good book state pride cometh before a fall? I wish both houses in congress had lawmakers as honest as John.
