Today is May 3, six months away from the presidential election, to the day. We are standing in the kitchen of a place called Culture War and a dish called the Big Lie is in the oven and about to explode all over the walls. It can do nothing else. As our own Murfster pointed out, you can’t keep up a lie forever. You can tell it, make it big and keep repeating it, and yes, a great many people do believe it, because they want to, but it has to fall of its own weight because at the end of the day it is what it is, only a lie.

The lines in the war are being drawn and this will only serve to hasten its demise.

This is the far-right tack — and so far, the GOP tack — that this stolen election madness is real. They think that if they just double down hard enough on reality that reality will change for them. Pure Twilight Zone thinking. Yes, McConnell stood up at the podium and said it wasn’t so, and Trump was to blame, but look at the big picture. And McConnell does nothing to discourage or stop this.

The Washington Post has published a timeline showing how the voting machine conspiracy theories are dying a slow painful death. The most recent serious perpetrator to recant, in the face of ruinous litigation, was Newsmax a few days ago. But the remnants of Strikeforce Rudy are still in there, trying to move the mountain to Mango Mohammad. If they just make believe and double down enough, they’ll get their way.

This is all heading for major confrontation and massive explosion in the very near future. Think of Enrico Fermi’s confetti going all over the blast site, when the bomb was finally exploded in Las Alamos. That’s where this particular CT is going, and soon. Watch.

  1. Jenna Ellis should be disbarred for her part in those suits. She’s not qualified to be a lawyer. They had no evidence, and when they were asked in court if they were claiming fraud, they said “no”.

    • How she went from adjudicating traffic tickets in Weld County, Colorado with Ken Buck to being a constitutional law scholar is what I would like to know. That has always floored me.

    • Being associated with Trump means she is now disqualified from holding a fast food company’s register, never mind being a lawyer. So she thinks she has to keep the grift going.

  2. I’m thinking more the climatic Mexican standoff in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, with the crazies being Tuco with the unloaded gun. With apologies for repeating myself yet again, this Phillip K Dick quote is why I remain unafraid: “Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.”

  3. More like the Black Knight in Monty Python refusing to join king Arthur or let him pass. With his legs and arms cut off, he keeps taunting & loses his head, which sits on the ground, continuing to talk smack.

  4. You know what I think? EVERY Democrat should respond to Trump’s whole “Big Lie” message about the “election being stolen” by saying, “Yes, we admit it. The election was rigged. That’s why 20 Republicans were elected to the Senate compared to just 15 Democrats. That’s why 213 Republicans were elected to the House of Representatives. That’s why the Republicans picked up a Governorship and why Republicans gained or retained majorities in 26 State lower houses and 27 State upper houses with Republicans only losing lower house seats in 3 states (while Democrats lost seats in 9 states) and losing upper house seats in 7 states. It would also explain why the Republicans regained control of both houses of the New Hampshire legislature. So, yes, Mr Trump must be correct. There can be NO other possible reason why he was unable to claim victory in his election except the election’s being rigged when so many other Republicans WERE chosen in THEIR elections.”

Of course, Trump’s people would ignore EVERYTHING after “The election was rigged” because, to them, facts and explanations are completely irrelevant.

    • That would be feeding them attention and outrage fuel they do not deserve. Better to publicly ignore them where possible, push on their lies where they may pop up and trust that law enforcement has the number of the dangerous ones.

  5. Jenna Ellis is probably correct. Republican officials in at least six states may have violated the law in the administration of the 2020 election. And R’s were spineless to hold them accountable.
