I thought that it was impossible to be dumber than Ron Johnson, but I was wrong. I thought nobody in the Senate could be a more arrogant jerk than Markwayne Mullin, but I was wrong about that, too. Tommy Tuberville has them both beat by leaps and bounds. Maybe we should fall to our knees and thank God Almighty that Herschel Walker was not elected and he’s not in this mix.
Lincoln Project has cut a new video which succinctly encapsulates the issue with “Senator” Tuberville (R-Kakistocracy). The man is an abject moron. He didn’t even know that there was a statute in place which dictated the departure of General Milley. “Oh, he’ll probably stay on a while,” the Alabaman fool drawled. No, Tommy, it doesn’t work that way. Might have been nice if you’d had a government class or two before you decided to run for the upper chamber of our Congress.

We are seriously becoming a kakistocracy. If the term is new to you, it means “government by the least qualified.” What I find tragic is that Doug Jones, who was highly competent, was Alabama’s senator before Tuberville flipped the seat back to red.
If we are so stupid that celebrity is the defining element that gets somebody elected and figures from sports and television, who have no business governing get elected, then this culture will go the way of civilizations and empires before it. We will fall. If we’re stupid enough to keep electing people like this, we will fall.
Now this is funny, if in fact a situation like this has any humor at all. But this guy found some, good for him.

And I suppose it’s up to me to point out the proverbial elephant in the room. As a Jones voter in 2017 and in 2020, Jones was never really expected to win either time. The first time he lucked out in getting an opponent who was so reprehensible that only about half of Alabama’s GOP voters felt comfortable enough to vote for him because “R” (either that or they were truly deplorable and would’ve voted for Charles Manson if he was the GOP nominee) while the rest just sat out because they couldn’t vote for a holier-than-thou alleged pedophile nor could they vote for a Democrat. If the GOP had run the incumbent, Luther Strange, instead of the pedophile, the seat would’ve stayed red, rather than turn temporarily blue.
In 2020, once Tuberville got the GOP nomination, he led pretty much every single poll with most of them showing a lead well outside the margin of error (although most polls were really small samples–between 500 and 850 likely voters). Even the one poll that showed Jones leading, the MOE was 3.5% and he only led 48-47. Jones had practically zero chance of winning reelection in 2020 (there was even one hypothetical poll in late 2019–question being “Jones deserves to be reelected or Jones doesn’t deserve to be reelected” with him losing by 14 points; another poll in April of 2019 with him facing “Generic Republican” showed him losing by 10 points with a 4% MOE). And when the final results came in with the 2020 election, Jones got the “generic” Democratic maximum of 40% (most Democrats in statewide elections tend to get between 35 and 40%; 2017 was the outlier because of the slime-bucket the GOP ran).
This is Alabama-competence, like knowledge, facts, truth…, is the enemy.
There has to be more to this than just one dumbass good ole boy. The whole GOP Senate is allowing this. Why? Just to cause yet more chaos in the Biden era? Or to hold up all military positions until a “re-elected” Trump can fill the military with his own scum? It sure as hell has nothing at all to do with abortions.
Where are these schools where parental involvement is not welcome, where parents have no say? Are they in the south, AL? Probably if these moms for “liberty” hold sway. Oh, and g_d forbid teachers want to be paid a living wage and if they’re not (and they’re not, lets’ face it), they need things like summers to work a SECOND JOB.

My bet is that he is keeping all these positions open so Trump can fill them with his “loyal” people.
