When Trump posted his petulant tweet that he’d wash his hands of the Kennedy Center and give it to Congress to run I knew he had NO intention of letting his name get taken off the place without a fight. With the exception of Truth Social posts (many of which he dictates) Trump doesn’t “internet” – he famously never had a computer of his own or sent emails. So, having his name removed from various Kennedy Center web stuff didn’t hurt his fee-fees so much. However, the thought of seeing his name taken down from an actual building is a whole different thing.  You had to know Trump would fight to the bitter end.

I wasn’t fooled for one second the past couple of weeks. Ok, I’ll admit to looking forward to seeing the letters partially renaming the Kennedy Center for Trump coming down today.  Like I said though as sure as the sun rises in the east each day a lawsuit filed by Trump would ‘rise up’ in court saying “WAAAAHHHHH!!!! NO FAIR!!!! You can’t take MY name down!!!!”  Sure enough said court filing happened.  Since Trump was probably afraid workers would be out there at the crack of dawn his people went to court late yesterday.  As this article from The Independent explains Trump’s pals who he installed as the Kennedy Center’s Board voted to seek a stay of the late May court ruling ordering Trump’s name removed from all things Kennedy Center – including the facade over the entrance:

On Thursday, the board voted to seek a stay of U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper’s May 29 ruling, which declared that Trump’s name had been illegally affixed to the Kennedy Center.

This decision, confirmed by an anonymous source familiar with the private meeting, led to a formal request filed late Thursday.

The entire article is worth the couple of minutes it takes to read. But Judge Cooper’s May 29 ruling was clear.  Trump’s name had been illegally added to the Center because only Congress had the power to alter their own action – the law they passed so long ago renaming the building after Kennedy’s assassination to create a ‘living memorial’ to honor him.  Judge Cooper gave the Board until today, June 12 to comply. As I’ve said they wasted little time in removing Trump’s name from most Kennedy Center related things but that despicable Trump name above the entrance remained untouched.  An unspoken act of defiance that now is, via formal Board action and running to court now spoken.  It might be Trump’s handpicked Board members whining in court, but it’s due to TRUMP whining, crying, stomping his feet and holding his breath until he turns blue (a welcome change from his weird orange hue!) that caused them to act.

I saw on TV the judge told them today ‘Nope. My order stands now get it done.’  No doubt they will appeal but I doubt since the appeal would be heard by the DC Court of Appeals it stands a chance. Would Trump try to take it to SCOTUS?  I’ll bet the odds makers in Vegas already have a line on that one!  Sadly, even if Trump gives up his f**king nasty name will still be on the KENNEDY CENTER when the sun goes down, even though scaffolding had been erected for the work.  I’m sure some lame-assed excuse about not being able to get workers there today (nor tomorrow, or Sunday which is Trump’s birthday) will be given to the judge.  Ten bucks says Trump will order the lawyers to tell the judge he’ll get around to it ‘in a couple of weeks’, or ‘soon.’

It’s infuriating but just as I knew would be the case Trump will fight having his name taken off the Kennedy Center for as long as he can get away with keeping it up there.  His name has been taken off plenty of buildings starting back in his first term. This however is different because he’s been on a binge of remaking our nation’s Capitol into a homage to HIM. Someone as tacky-assed classless as Trump had to just love abusing his power and actually breaking the law to slap his name up on a cultural institution named for a President who, along with his wife Jackie was known for class.

Well, the scaffolding for the workers (to remove the Trump crap) is already in place.  The judge has affirmed his order telling Trump to remove his name from the Kennedy Center. Advocating breaking the law including acts of vandalism isn’t something tolerated on Politizoom.  On the other hand, since the Judge has ordered Trump’s name removed and Trump’s refusing to comply with a court order is it vandalism if some wealthy former Kennedy Center benefactor hires a crew to climb that scaffolding and take Trump’s name down?  (If I weren’t physically disabled I’d freaking volunteer!)

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
