Well, that was entertaining, even if I’m no longer used to sitting through three straight hours of drivel. But all in all, it was definitely worth the effort to stay up.

Where else can you sit and watch an official Senate hearing, paid for by your tax dollars, where the witness is directly referred to as a liar, a charlatan, a faker, unqualified, and a wingnut. And those were the compliments.

For his part, RFK Jr. was his usual ranting, incoherent self. He stared at the ceiling, he interrupted, told people they didn’t know what they were talking about. He didn’t know how many Americans were killed by Covid, admitted he felt the vaccine didn’t save a single life, and at one point told Democratic Senator Tom Bennett to answer his question, only getting Bennett to snap back, I don’t answer the questions. I ask the questions. It’s your job to answer them, so get to it!

This was not a good day for the GOP Senate, and they know it. Although only Ditch McConnell voted against RFK Jr. for confirmation, at least a half a dozen GOP Senators made it perfectly clear today that they are seriously considering signing onto a Democratic resolution calling for Kennedy to either resign or be fired. Quite a few of these GOP Senators are obviously feeling lied to and misled, and there are two good reasons for them to be so pissed off.

First, Kennedy was an obvious loose cannon as a nominee for HHS. I have no facts to back it up, but my feeling is that a lot of these fence sitting GOP Senators signed on with the implicit understanding that there would be somebody on the staff in his office that would be responsible for reining him in and keeping him on a tether, away from the media as much as possible, and under control. And now he’s running around like 1000 bastard maniac Freddie Krueger’s, and now he’s making them look like a bunch of pointy heads.

And here’s the frosting on the cake. Even with a clear majority, it takes a whole lot of work in order to get a cabinet nominee confirmed. They don’t just give the nominee a map of the Senate building and turn him loose to knock on Senator’s doors. They actually assign the nominee a sherpa, who actually briefs the nominee on every Senator on the way, and makes a formal introduction in the office.

They just went through this with their nominee to fill the role as the head of the CDC. The GOP Senate was actually quite proud of themselves. They actually managed to find a candidate that was not only acceptable to Traitor Tot, but she actually believes in science and the scientific method. What a coup! Then RFK starts spewing Q-Anon drivel at her, she responds with cold hard facts, which is like a priest sprinkling holy water on a possession victim, and Kennedy sh*tcans her for being untrustworthy. And now they have to go through the whole circus all over again, and look like total incompetents for not finding a qualified nominee the first time around.

Take my word on this my friends, keep a sharp eye out for this, because in the next couple of months it’s about to blow up into open warfare. Inflation is on the rise, and the Democrats are going to hammer the GOP with this like milk fed veal. But take it to the bank, healthcare and social services are going to be another mainstay of this election, and that’s a looming disaster for the GOP, and the GOP Senate damn well knows it.

Because the Democrats have found their very own useful idiot, and it’s RFK Jr. Let’s be clear, it’s actually Traitor Tot’s Big, Beautiful Bill that put the draconian cuts on Medicaid, reduced healthcare spending, especially for rural hospitals, and reductions to social services such as free and reduced school lunches, and social medical services. And it would be bad enough for the GOP if the Democrats hammered their only signature legislation of El Pendejo Presidente’s second term.

But RFK Jr. is purposely turning himself into a lightening rod for the whole thing, and the Democrats are overjoyed to have him. After all, always better to attach a face to hate, rather than a piece of paper.

And Kennedy is gleefully jumping into the breach. He is on the tube almost constantly, remarking on every single new decision that pares away at healthcare coverage and social services, damn near taking credit for all of it, and then responds to criticism and serious questions with brainless prattle and bullsh*t.

This can’t go on. At some point Kennedy is going to become such a liability that Trump is going to have to either jettison him, or face an electoral debacle in November of 2026. And you can bet your ass that vulnerable GOP Senators will tell him. As will the state GOP Chairs of states like Florida, North Carolina, and Iowa, with open seats to defend, and two of them with large rural populations. Don’t touch that dial.

I thank you for the privilege of your time.

  1. Fatally eccentric person. His brain must look like swiss cheese. He could benefit us all by spending more time with his family, though I would feel sorry for the family.

    • Naah, him spending more time with family is out of the question, they made it clear last year that they want nothing to do with him…

I agree, except my question is, will Donold be mentally able to realize the risk?
