I suppose in a way that this should be refreshing. At least this woman isn’t candy coating anything and I admire that greatly.
Here’s the set up. As you are aware, three Democratic representatives of the Tennessee state government peacefully protested after the Nashville murders.
Two of them, both POCs, were ousted from the chamber and the third, a white woman, Gloria Johnson, flat out said it was a racist act. Her words were, “I’ll answer your question. It might have to do with the color of our skin.” I hope she doesn’t get burned at the stake for telling the truth.
BREAKING NEWS: Democrat Tennessee Rep. Gloria Johnson was NOT expelled from the Tennessee House after a vote. She was asked moments later why fellow Democrat and African American, Justin Jones was expelled and she was not.

After a shooter opened fire at the Covenant School in Nashville on March 27, killing three 9-year-olds and three adults, activists descended on the Tennessee Capitol and demanded that lawmakers pass gun-control legislation. Republicans, with supermajorities in both chambers, refused to do so. The three lawmakers — dubbed the Tennessee Three — said they joined the protests to speak out for Tennesseans whose voices have been ignored. […]
County and city-level officials will select replacements to serve until the next regularly scheduled election in August 2024, said Carrie Russell, a political science senior lecturer at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University. The expelled lawmakers will be able to run for reelection at that time, she said.
Two takeaways:
- The racism is so thick that they’re not even bothering to conceal it anymore;
- The Republicans sent a message loud and clear, here. I hope they’re happy with their work because it’s a message that is going to come back to bite them, hard. We are at a tipping point here. A sea change is in the wind and if these fools can’t sense it and respond accordingly, then they can go the way of the dinosaur.
And to pin the mask on the klansmen as a parting shot Mr. Pearson was apparently identified as Mr. Jones after his expulsion as noted by Joy Reid. Cos it’s so hard to tell “Justin”s” apart? Totally blatant. Thanks to Tennessee legislators for finally allowing these 3 members to have their say in a huge forum or we might never have heard of them. I’m anticipating great things from these two young men especially…27 and from a generation who will not tolerate the past as present,nor future. The future belongs to the young and they’re not having it.
