What the hell! What is it, something in the water out there in GOP land? We’re all sadly aware of the walking travesty that is NY state Representative George Santos the human bullshit machine. But now it looks like there’s another one.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet freshman Representative Anna Paulina Luna of Florida. Like Santos, she appears to be a 3rd rate bottom feeder who dredged around on the lower levels of GOP politics. Until she got elected. And now that she has national name recognition, both the local media, as well as the national media are giving her a thorough going over. And what they’re finding isn’t good.
According to MSN News, Luna campaigned on being raised as a Messianic Jew. If you don’t know that that is, don’t feel alone, neither did I. I’ll let MSN News explain;
Messianic Jews view themselves as Jewish but hold the Christian view of Jesus as the Messiah and are often closely identified with Evangelical Christianity.
OK. Fine. Except that several members of Luna’s own family have come forward to state that her father identified as a practising Catholic, and that her grandfather emigrated to Canada after fighting for Nazi Germany in World War II.
The Washington Post is also reporting that it appears that Luna embellished the difficulties of her growing up surroundings, As well as her educational and work experience in her filings.
What the hell is going on with the GOP’s vetting processes for national candidates? It’s the party’s responsibility to vet potential candidates to make sure that there is nothing in their background or history that will embarrass the party to the voters. And as it looks now, the GOP’s vetting procedure is that any yahoo who can get enough signatures on a filing petition is fine with them, and they’ll deal with the fallout later if they get elected.
This has the potential to be a major problem for the GOP going forward. George Santos likes to claim that he was elected by 143,000 New York voters, and he answers to them, not the media or the congress. And yet recent polling shows that a whopping 78% of district voters, including GOP voters want Santos shoveled onto a slow boat to Indonesia. We’ll have to see what polling among Ms. Luna’s constituents shows.
This is a potentially serious problem for the GOP 2024 is getting closer every day. And we all know that it’s the rabid base that picks the candidates for the general election, it’s the moderates and independents who elect those candidates in the general election. And if the GOP gets the reputation of putting forth lying, palsied, flawed, bullshit candidates in the general election, why would anybody vote for them? The Trump GOP base is sowing the seeds of the party’s destruction.

Nashville TV station WTVF investigated said congressman and found his resume “filled with inconsistencies” per Huff Post……

Ya know, it’s not like these people throw their hat in the ring a month before the election. Why the hell don’t people (reporters, bloggers, etc) do just a little bit of investigative work and unearth some of these things during the process – which as we know is often a year long campaign season. Why does this all seem to come out after these reprobates are actually elected?
The GOP doesn’t care about embellishments or outright lies. It’s their stock and trade. As long as they get that vote for their attempts to turn this country into a 1950’s rerun of Father Knows Best, honesty, integrity and ethics don’t matter.
Well, they certainly didn’t look into trumps past prior to his running. It was all right there to be vetted prior to his nomination, which I don’t believe he would have received if it had. We could’ve all been spared this.
