We’ve been hoping she would get help, that someone could work with her to guide her to get help. We were wrong. That’s the one consistency about her. She’s nuts, and she does stupid sh!t. Remember the whole business with the airport that she held onto for days? I may hold a grudge for far too long, but I don’t make myself a raging bitch every time something small and inconsequential that’s “bad” happens to me. Ok, yes, I do “rant” here on occasion. Those come out so fast it’s a ton o’ fun! Plus, they are occasionally better than just “good”. Soooo, this happened late Saturday, but better late than never, yes? With thanks to Raw Story:
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) set off a war of words on X late Saturday when she attempted to troll two of her colleagues in the House, both of whom are Muslims. Reacting to news that Iran’s Supreme Commander Ali Hosseini Khamenei was pronounced dead after a surprise US attack on his country, Mace posted a link to the Fox News report and wrote, “My heart goes out to Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib tonight. Sending them thoughts and prayers.”
Okay, yes, that was sarcasm, whether she was trying for that or not. And I’ve already screamed about how much I hate “thoughts and prayers”. Often. It was also totally uncalled for and just plain rude. Where did it come from? Attempted was definitely the correct word to use. It was pitiful. Others would have done much better with it. But she threw it out there, as if she was throwing down a gauntlet, without thinking about the strength of her opponents. Oops.
That led Rep. Omar, a frequent target of conservatives because of her faith, to fire back at the South Carolina lawmaker who has been the subject of accusations from former staffers of excessive drinking. “I hope you aren’t drunk and took your staff’s advice, Rashida, and I don’t know this man and feel confident he didn’t care about us. Please refrain from drinking too much, as you have been warned by your staff, and stay off social media when you are drunk,” she advised.
SCORCH. We know who the adult in the room was. And Rep. Omar was pointed, yet very gracious in her response. Mace was trying to poke the bear and came out flat-footed wrong. Mace doesn’t seem to realize that she’s not hiding anything, and her drinking is the best-kept open secret. She should have gotten help long ago. Now that’s a bit preachy, but most people realize when they’re screwing up and get guidance, assistance. She doesn’t and doesn’t care.
She added, “I pray in his holy month you find peace and respect for yourself.” //// Mace’s post drew other criticisms, with journalist Aaron Rupar responding, “Absolutely disgraceful. You should be ashamed of yourself.” //// “That is just disgusting,” replied Democratic strategist Leslie Marshall.
There are better ways to get attention instead of making a dick of yourself. It’s very nearly pitiful what’s going on with these shenanigans. Maybe we should ask other addicts what got them to “go straight” and see if any of them would give us reasons that might work for her. In the meantime, it’s sad. She obviously wants recognition, but she’s going about it the wrong way. And who knows what she’ll do next?
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
