This is starting to escalate in an alarming manner. Come, play Connect the Dots with me. Just the other day Steve Schmidt said that Rupert Murdoch should be deported. He is clued into exactly what is happening to us right now, vis a vis the poisoning of the public airwaves by Fox News, just as Dan Rather is. Now George Conway is chiming in. We need to sit up and take note of this. This is coming to a head and fast.

Let’s go step by step.

This was just a few days ago. Today you had a chance to read Dan Rather’s Steady column on Fox News “Crossing the Line.” I’m pleased to report that this piece is getting some views here, in the few hours it’s been up, and likewise Rather’s column is trending on Twitter. Good.  What Rather says is on point and important and we need to hear it.

Now, along comes George Conway. This entire clip of nine minutes is well worth the time to listen. Conway and Jim Acosta go over a number of important topics. For our purposes here, start listening at 2:37 where Viktor Orban advocates for 24/7 propaganda and praises Tucker Carlson to the hilt.

Conway says CPAC has “gone full fascist” and certainly that is something to sit up and take notice of. That is not a small thing. Not all that many years ago, before the likes of Steve Bannon and Nigel Farage took over the place, Republican journalists and analysts of note used to gather there yearly. We’re talking about The Bulwark crowd. There was some intelligent discourse to be had and some good writing and analysis to come out of it. It was a legitimate convention and think tank for conservative views. Those days are gone with the wind. If you missed them, don’t look to see them again. Not at CPAC, in any event.

Again, start at 2:37 if you don’t want to watch the whole thing.

My humble opinion is that we are at a crossroads and our best legal minds need to figure out how to defuse Fox News. Red flags have been waving for some time now. Tucker Carlson is a fixture on Russian TV. Now Viktor Orban liberally praises him. Viktor Orban would make America Hungary. Make no mistake about that.

Is this what America has come to, that we have entertainers, posing as political analysts, who are paid eight figure incomes, to spew propaganda onto the airwaves, and openly influence elections while they post as “journalists.” And who are then endorsed for doing so by the worst tyrants on the planet? And this is okay?

And let me interject here that the GOP is terrified of Carlson. You well recall, I am sure, Ted Cruz groveling and abasing himself at Carlson’s feet.

Dan Rather was right. “The abhorrent must not become the acceptable.” It has. That’s what our problem is. And we may lose America over it.

    • I join you in that assessment. The failure of the educational system in this country, along with the deliberate plotting of Russia to take us over since the 1950’s, and now the intervention of Fox News, is leading to a terrifying confrontation. And the GOP is just fine with it all. Whatever keeps them in power. We are up the creek.
