There truly is a video or a tweet for every occasion. Twitter didn’t exist in 1963 but C-Span did and this is from their archives. If Dr. King were alive today he could be saying these exact same words and who would know the difference between a 1963 story and one dated 2022? Wrap your head around that. No change with some things in 60 years.

Since we’re here and looking at this, here is another epochal piece of video. This is the 1965 debate at Cambridge University between James Baldwin and William F. Buckley.
This is an hour long. If you can’t listen to it now, come back and listen to it. You really need to hear a debate which has influenced Western thought for the past sixty years. Baldwin was an esteemed writer. He left these shores to live in France. Buckley is considered by many the “father of conservatism.” This is hot, especially looking at it in the rear view mirror and seeing how little, if anything, has changed since 1965.
This debate video began going the rounds again in 2019 with the publication of a new book, The Fire Is Upon Us. For me the value of this debate has always been the revelation that Buckley and Baldwin are from two totally different worlds. Buckley hides behind his white privilege and rationalizes how Baldwin is “making” himself “a victim” and Baldwin simply tells the raw truth of his ordeal being a Black man in America.
This is a debate for the ages. It doesn’t get much hotter than this.

So many parallels between our current times and the 60’s is uncanny. It’s staggering and downright annoying that certain people have been able to drag society so far backwards.

This hippie just left scathing messages for my two fascists senators, tillis & burr. Left one for the money whore from AZ. Tried to leave one for the coal baron but the second it says leave a message, a loud screech comes on & stays on. Seems the dirty snowflake sabotaged his phone system to avoid messages. Guess jack was right. They can’t handle the truth. Time for another American Revolution against fascists in our government. WE ARE THE GODDAMN MAJORITY!!!!! Time to start acting like it.
I transferred down here from WV in 2014. I’d lived there over ten years after dropping out of the beltway rat-race. I hated having to vote for Manchin, and did so only because the alternatives were so much worse. However, I still give his DC and Martinsburg offices a ration of shit over his antics on a regular basis.
