This is a video that I wish would go viral, although since it’s of a Kentucky State Senate hearing I don’t know how likely that is. This woman, Karen Berg, makes the glaringly obvious points that she is 1) the only woman sitting on this particular panel and 2) the only doctor.

She then goes on to explain medical reality to her male colleagues. Then she articulates the simple fact that there is a vast difference between a four-chamber, fully viable heart and what a fetus has at fifteen weeks — or at six, as some of these bills have been drafted.

This is the entire argument in a nutshell but you never hear it this succinctly made. The male patriarchal system is too busy being sanctimonious and pretending to care about life to distill terms down to a common sense level.

That is 2:10 of pure instruction and should be made available everywhere.

I’m pleased that Kentucky has some legislators like this. They need more like Senator Berg and so does the rest of the country.

As far as I am concerned, we have just seen the best political ad of 2022. I may write this lady a fan letter. Damn.

  1. Are there any bills put forth by ‘pubes that aren’t shams? Ok, I’m cynical but F.F.S. this IS the party of idiots after all. Expecting them to base their law-making on things like facts and scientifically sound evidence is expecting WAY too much.

    • Abortion has always been a tragic issue because its high emotion component has always been exploited, while the day to day awfulness of asking a woman to bear a child she’s not prepared to bear is ignored. Republicans haven’t exactly been living in the real world with this one, let’s just say that.

  2. Because the “base” doesn’t listen to science, doesn’t believe science. The disingenuous, bad-faith acting pube “politicians” primarily pander to the deplorables who gorge themselves on Fux and all they do and say is generated to illicit outrage which is what motivates the rubes to send their money, grab their guns and VOTE.

  3. Write her a fan letter! I just did … and I don’t live anywhere near Kentucky or I’d volunteer to work for her campaign. I only wish this video had shown the faces of all those men seated on that committee. Smug in their patriarchy, but possibly just a little bit upset by this educated, intelligent and compassionate woman.

  4. Medical.facts? They don’t need no stinkin’ medical.facts. It interferes with their hypocrisy and desire to force women out of advanced education, the workplace and politics.
