I think we should award the Mike Lindell Award to Kristi Noem. The Lindell Award is something I just made up this moment and it goes to the person with the most asinine and indefensible story who attempts to whitewash said story. It totally ignores the basic premise of political hit stories, which is that when you’ve dug yourself in deep enough, for God’s sake stop digging. Two things going on here tonight: 1. Fox News is desperately trying to get Noem out of the shithouse that she’s managed to put herself in and 2. That lends credence to the fact that she might still be in the running for Trump’s VP. (Maybe she and Elise Stefanik should just do a mud wrestling contest to decide which one gets the prize.)
No amount of makeup, lip fillers, eyebrows thickening, hair extensions or dental cosmetic treatments combined with carefully crafted statements on subservient tv shows will revive her political career. I would be surprised if there were not more horror stories about to emerge.

Two schools of thought on this debacle: 1. Noem had her book ghostwritten and didn’t know that the writer had included anecdotes like this one. So does that make it the writer’s fault? 2. The campaign should have vetted the manuscript long before it ever went to press. And/or the politician herself should have read the book with her name on it as the author.
Where there are not multiple schools of thought are with respect to whether Noem is making herself look worse by doubling down. She’s not going to convince anybody that this was actually okay. The damage is done and she looks bad, terrible in fact. But she won’t walk away so apparently what we are going to get is more doubling and tripling down. Earth To Kristi Noem: There is no way shooting a dog in the face is okay. Whether it was a puppy or a 15-year old dog, whether it was a pet or a working dog, whether it was a vicious cur or the sweetest little canine God ever made, this.isn’t.okay.
Donald Trump senses that this is kryptonite and he hasn’t touched it with a ten foot pole. He might even be behind the Fox News rehab attempt of the story. The fact that Fox News is attempting this does tend to indicate that Noem plans to stay in the political game. She wants to be VP. She has no intentions of stepping away from politics.
Fine. Let’s see how she does at the ballot box during the next election. I don’t think Trump will pick her as his VP choice with this particular baggage. She’s out, Lake was never seriously in, except in her own mind, and the field has narrowed to Elise Stefanik or Tim Scott, unless I miss my guess.
After Trump picks another VP, we’ll see what Noem says and does then. I don’t see her stepping up from state politics to national with this going on.

IMO, the HUGE problem w/RW is, violence & cruelty are OK! VOTE Blue EVERYONE, it’s the only way to SAVE us ALL! This election determines a DEMOCRACY or NEOFASCISM (Nazism)! WE can deal with RW Amerika, when we ELECT a BLUE Congress! TYVM
The only reason I could see that justifies shooting a dog is one with rabies: you need to.kill it from.a distance for your own safety. Perhaps another reason might be that the animalis dying in agony and a trip to a vet to end its suffering isn’t possible.
