This is who we are in 2022. We are not in the same political climate that the vast majority of us grew up in.
No, we are in something called the Culture War and the lines are drawn very distinctly. Yes, America (and the world, for that matter) has always been about the Haves and the Have Nots, but this is different.
This is the Know Nots vs. Everybody Else. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people without a lick of sense. And those people put on red hats, and vote Republican and you know the rest. They don’t know where the lines are drawn and they think the law is whatever Donald Trump wants them to do. For them, it is necessary to have “the talk.”

The tragic part is, it’s not really all that satirical. There are a lot of Americans Amurikkkans who think that if Trumpty Dumpty says it, that makes it so. They’re living in a fairy tale. Until they do something really stupid that lands them in jail — or their phone is taken pursuant to a search warrant — and then it’s High Victim time.
The Cult is strong with these ones.
And don’t look for it to get any better. Right-wing media is in existence to fleece these people and keep them keyed up and outraged.
If their Mango Messiah doesn’t end up running in 2024, who knows what they’ll do? Maybe they’ll convert to the ways of Ron DeSantis, maybe not. We’ll find out in due course, but for the moment, this is where things are.
Recently one killed his wife & daughter. The other daughter wasn’t home. She said he became increasingly paranoid & delusional despite their efforts to get him off conspiracy theories. That shows how fruitless it is to try and reason with these people. People that have never dealt with real threats of violence like to believe in reason. They are ill equipped to accept reality in a different way. There are times you need to be prepared to accept death so that you are free to respond in a way to defend yourself. Fact. Every solider is trained for violence. Otherwise when you are afraid you become a victim. Predators look for victims. Wild animals respond the same way. You show fear, you’re toast.
So the older daughter who was shot did die. Last I had heard, she was in ICU and expected to be paralyzed from the waist down. I didn’t realize she had succumbed. So sad. (And the little dog too.)
