From all reports, Theodore Suess Geisel was a gentle and witty man. So I tend to think that the brou ha ha over his copyrights and all the residual silliness on Fox News would blow him away. I also think he would appreciate this little ditty from Meidas Touch.
This is a such dumb rule, and there is no excuse.

Now think about it, if you didn’t know what a filibuster was, what manner of beast would you imagine it to be? Something big that crashed through the woods and stepped on people, right? Or stepped on busters, whatever they might be. Or, broke filis, whatever a fili is. Too bad Dr. Suess isn’t still with us, he could figure this out.

I agree. I think he’s enjoying the power he’s wielding over the Dems a bit too much. It’s gone to his head.
He probably believes he should be majority leader (at least)
So, instead of a Democrat who *sometimes* votes with the GOP, you’d prefer a GOPer to hold the seat?
Well, deal with it for a few more years–he doesn’t run again till 2024 and, if he does run, he’ll most likely be gone come January 2025. And odds are a GOPer will get his seat. (I’m figuring if you bet a dollar that a GOPer gets the seat, you’ll get back a quarter–the odds are that stacked to favor the GOP.)

It is inconsistent to hold Manchin in disdain doe voting opposite the party line while applauding GOP senators who vote contrary to their party line. The question needs to be whether his reasoning is in good faith.
I wonder if the RWNJs would still hold up Dr.Seuss as a beacon of virtue were they to see some of his erotic art???

In principle, I agree to the idea that sixty Senate votes should be required to pass a bill, but the rule presumes that all Senators are acting in good faith, and that they have good faith reasons for voting nay. But GOP senators have deliberately forfeited the presumption of good faith.
