Hi. Let me introduce myself. I am a beautiful creature, fluffy and covered with luxurious soft fur in several shades of orange and gold. If I look at you with my lovely golden eyes, your heart will melt. I am a golden cat. I am, in fact, a Princess!

“Hi, Mom. Who is that kitty?” Allen bounced himself up on my lap.

“A long time ago, a pootie named Bubbles shared our lives. She was still with us when you were a small little kitten. She wrote some little stories about herself, and this is one of them.”

My life began years ago and far away, when Ginnycat found my catly mom and her spectacular litter of gorgeous baby kitties and took me to live with her granddad, George.

I loved to climb around on his chair and rub his neck. Granddad petted me and named me Bubbles, and he and his nurse took care of me.

One day, Ginnycat put me in the pocket of her jacket and snuck me into the hospital where her mom, Minacat, was being treated for a broken back.

“Hi, Mom,” Ginnycat said, “I’ve brought you a surprise.” She put me on her mom’s tummy. I kept very still so Minacat could pet me and rub me against the side of her face. She later told me that my visit was one of the best things that happened to her while she was there in the hospital.

Back at Granddad’s house, I had a wonderful time climbing all over the furniture, shredding the drapes, leaving samples of my gorgeous golden fur all over the place, stealing people’s roast beef, and attacking everyone’s feet. I earned the affectionate name of The Orange Rocket. “She doesn’t run down the steps,” I heard the nurse say, “She flies.” I was so pleased with myself !

Eventually, Minacat was able to leave the hospital, but not long after she and Ginnycat returned to their home in California, George, at age 91, had to leave his earthly life. Ginnycat and her dad came and got me and took me on a great ride to the west coast in a big green SUV. At the beginning of the trip, they had me in one of those dreadful cat carriers.

I quickly let them know what I thought of that idea.

And so, they released me to freedom. I loved to wander around the back of the car and look out the windows at all the wonders of the outside or to lie right beside the back window and take a nap in the warm sunshine.

Not too long into the trip. Ginnycat’s dad got pulled over by the cops. When he lowered the window, the trooper said, “Do you know how fast you were going?”

Then the trooper looked inside the car and saw me, looking very cute, all snuggled up in front of the speedometer. He laughed and reached into the car and petted me. I, of course, began to purr. Luckily, I charmed that cop so much that he didn’t write us a speeding ticket.
