Vice President Kamala Harris has stretched her lead over former Resident Donald Trump from 3 points last week to 6 points today. This doubling of her advantage over the dotard represents the largest lead any candidate in this Presidential election cycle and six points is definitely outside the margin of error for almost every reputable poll. As the poll was conducted last Friday, Saturday and Sunday it almost certainly reflects gains she made with undecided voters after shellacking Trump in last Tuesday’s debate. I personally think another factor could well be the divisive rhetoric deployed by Trump and Vance targeting the Haitian community in Springfield, Ohio. Voters who are apt to be swayed by fear factor tactics such as these have long ago settled into the Trump camp, and I think many undecided voters are offended by such insults to their intelligence. No matter the cause, this poll in definitely unalloyed political good news.
“With just 48 days to go before Election Day, Vice President Kamala Harris, buoyed by her performance in last week’s debate, has jumped out to a “record” lead over former President Donald Trump.
The California Democrat holds a 51%-45% advantage over Trump in a new Morning Consult tracking poll of 11,022 likely voters. The poll, conducted between Sept. 13 and Sept. 15, had a margin of error of 1%.
That support largely is being driven by support among Democratic voters; voters who backed President Joe Biden in 2020; self-identified liberals; women voters, voters aged 18-34, and millennials, according to the poll.
Sixty-one percent of respondents who watched the lone, nationally televised debate between the two candidates said Harris performed best, compared to 33% who said the same about Trump.“
The results of this poll, if Trump is made aware of it, will do little to dispel his angst and disappointment that the botched assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania last July has not buoyed him as Ronald Reagan’s shooting did for the Gipper in 1981. What dumbass doesn’t realize is that Reagan was a newly elected and popular Chief Executive who was actually hit by a bullet, rather than a widely unpopular sore loser and usurper who advances conspiracy theories in place of policy. There is still exactly zero evidence that Trump shared with Reagan the experience of being shot rather than merely targeted. The more accurate comparison would be to President Gerald Ford who was targeted by gunwomen twice in September of 1975, and was thankfully unhurt, and who went on to lose the next Presidential election to Jimmy Carter.
I think we will look back on today’s Morning Consult Poll as the moment when solid evidence emerged of a massive turning away from the politics of fear mongering, general lunacy and pathological lying by the American public.
