Well, at least he didn’t stumble. Or have toilet paper stuck to his shoe. Still, Trump’s exit from Air Force One after arriving in Florida where he will spend Christmas was kind of strange to watch. It also renews questions about his health. That beating of his right hand against his leg before starting down the steps sure seemed weird. Was he trying to wake up his leg or a hand he might need to catch himself if he stumbled?
Look, the steps to the door of a Boeing 747 are long. Or tall. Even when I was younger I tried to be careful on steps since my feet are overly long and I have to twist them sideways. I get it. I’ve gotten careless and had some falls that downright hurt. For damned sure Presidential stumbles boarding or exiting Air Force One are huge news events. Still, there’s being careful and showing signs of fear about making it down without mishap and looking at this particular exit it seems Trump was extra concerned. If he hadn’t spent so many years trashing Biden as being weak, feeble, etc. I might be willing to give Trumpty Dumpty a pass. However he’s made a huge point of trashing Joe Biden’s physical fitness so Trump can go screw himself as far as I’m concerned.
As we learn from The Daily Beast after a ‘rally’ in North Carolina (yes, it seemed like I could smell the stench of Trump) he headed on down to Mar A Lago to spend the Christmas holiday. I’m sure there will be some gathering, a fancy dinner with guests acting like they love him. Mostly it will be a bunch of rich guys eager for it to be over so they can sneak off for fun with a 10k a night escort instead of snuggling up to their overly cosmetic surgeon enhanced ‘Frankenwives.’ And those gals with blown up lips and boobs with makeup caked on Tammy Faye Bakker style wearing sleazy gowns. Yuck.
Still, it’s Trump’s kind of thing and the last thing he wanted was to trip and go face first down a bunch of bare metal steps. What grabbed a lot of attention when the video was posted was him slapping his right hand against his leg several times (pretty hard) before starting down the stairs:

Then the (to me) extra super careful walk down but not mentioned in the comments on Xitter was what happened when he reached the bottom. No one to greet him but military guys at the bottom saluting (as required) which he didn’t even glance at. Someone, presumably a Secret Service Agent helping him flop into the Presidential limo. For someone who spent years attacking Joe Biden as ‘low energy’ Trumpty was clearly exhausted. I mention that because one of the Xitter commenters came to his defense about it having been the end of a ‘long day.’ And again I say f**k that noise because Trump made fun of Biden who had tons more energy, and touts his own ‘fitness’ and “energy.’ The linked article includes reaction to the tweet shown if you’d like to see some fun poked at Trumpty.
The linked article notes how Trump himself has spoken to others (including a group of Generals) about his wanting to avoid disaster on those steps. (He did fall once but it was going up) Again, he’s right to note it’s a long way down and it’s not a good look for a President to take a pratfall. Gerald Ford never lived HIS down but at least he still had something of the University of Michigan starting lineman in him! Reading what Trump has said about those steps I’m reminded of his being slowly escorted (with the General at West Point keeping a grip on his left arm – a detail Trump never talked about) down that ramp at a West Point commencement.
To his telling, it was the ultimate ‘ramp of death!’ Made of the slickest ice ever, with the slickest lubricant scientists had ever created on top of the ice. And on top of THAT the most venomous of deadly snakes, and on top of THEM the deadliest spiders! With rabid lions on either side fighting at their restraints to get at him. AND just a few feet from the bottom another patch of ice – with the shark from Jaws waiting in case he slipped and slid down and into that bigly huge mouth!
That I think is how Trump, who is more frail than we even already believe is the case views those steps every time he has to deplane from Air Force One. I have no doubt he’s terrified of falling and what eats him up inside is he KNOWS how real the possibility is. Now that I think about it, Melania could score herself millions of dollars by agreeing to go along on his flights, and hold his right hand to steady him as he goes down those steps. Squeezing it hard enough to make it hurt and of course increasing the amount of makeup slathered on the back of that hand to hide the bruising from IVs would be a bonus!

Hey Trump, why not have a jetway built that AF-1 could taxi up to? You’d just walk straight off into the oval or a little room with cameras for tarmac talk. Of course, the optics would bad: POTUS needs a jetway?!? LOL!
