This is not the usual course of things. Generally speaking, countries are proud if one of their ancestral sons (and so far it’s only been sons) becomes a United States president. Ireland was very proud of Joe Biden and JFK, for example. The same is not holding true in Scotland for Donald Trump. He is not liked. They consider him a low life, as you can see from the list above of his defects of character. This is a classic example of the Ugly American being told Yankee Go Home. The Scots are a pretty laid back people, and this is not the norm for them. But Trump is not the norm. And I wonder if he’ll call this “fake news?”
Trump’s over in Scotland on a taxpayer funded trip and eventually he’ll get around to not playing golf and actually have a meeting with the UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer and one with the EU chief Ursula von der Leyen. Right now all he can do is hope that the Epstein scandal dies and it is not doing that. It’s growing, in fact, and finding its own European version as Trump travels abroad.
“They hope some time out of the limelight will allow the Epstein controversy to die down,” Reuters reported two sources familiar with the matter told them. That may be the case but that is sheer wishful thinking. There is no “out of the limelight” right now. Not when Trump just made it clear that his former personal lawyer, Todd Blanche, has made a personal law firm out of what used to be known as the Department of Justice.
Blanche spent something like nineteen hours meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell and it’s common knowledge — or belief, in any event — that this is the tee up to a presidential pardon. It’s been pointed out that Trump followed the same playbook with Roger Stone as he’s following with Maxwell, i.e., commutation of sentence and then full pardon.
Trump hilariously said the other day, when asked about Epstein, “I haven’t really been following it. You make it a very big thing over something that’s not a big thing. If you going to talk about that, talk about Clinton… Don’t talk about Trump.” No, nobody’s going to talk about Bill Clinton, because all he did was pen an airy fairy note about Epstein’s curiosity as he goes through his life journey, bla bla. It was a high school year book-level of comment. Clinton didn’t draw a racy cartoon and sign it.
Trump is getting protested, J.D. Vance is getting protested. All the world’s a stage and all the people are players who hate this administration. Sad but true. They see what the awake half of America sees, that Trump is a flaming disaster, a true dumpster fire.

Friends, if you can help us with a small donation or an ad-free subscription, it would be appreciated. We are attempting to get through a year of depressed traffic and make it to 2026, where the grass will hopefully be greener due to the midterms. Thank you. Ursula
