U.S. Trade Advisor: “Special Place in Hell for [Trudeau]”

Special disclaimer, I’m a dual citizen, both Canadian and American, additionally, this site has other warm ties to Canada, so this is now getting really personal.

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro on Sunday blasted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, saying there was a “special place in hell” for the foreign leader because he disagrees with President Donald Trump on trade.

***UPDATE***

Per several sources on Twitter, Navarro’s statement came “straight from AF!” – straight from President Trump, the words are Trump’s words. And I can say is that John Harwood was devastatingly right yesterday when he said he feared for our country because Trump did not look well, and he believed Trump to be “lying”

Now we see the consequences, severe international strains where we’d never had to worry about them before. Unbelievable.

End UPDATE

Yes, and there is a special place in hell for diplomats who talk like they’re at a Bachelor Party, puffing their chests up.

On Fox News Sunday, host Christ Wallace noted that Trump tore at Trudeau on Twitter, labeling the internet’s favorite Prime Minister as “dishonest and weak.” What did Trudeau do to deserve such belittlement? He gave a press conference after Trump had departed the G7 summit early, in which Trudeau argued that Trump is making a strategist mistake by placing tariffs on Canadian steel.

Even Fox’s Chris Wallace seemed stunned: “Is that really how we want to deal with our second-biggest trading partner?” Wallace wondered, not also mentioning the many wars Canada fought alongside the United States, and the three thousand mile peaceful border.

And that’s when it got bad, per Raw Story:

“There’s a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump,” Navarro insisted. “And then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door. And that’s what bad faith Justin Trudeau did at that stunt press conference.”

“That’s what weak dishonest Justin Trudeau did,” he added. “To my friends in Canada, that was one of the worst political miscalculations of a Canadian leader in modern Canadian history.”

Un-be-fking-lievable, Trump wanders north for a short get-together with our six closest friends, and THIS is the way Trump’s people are talking as he’s leaving?

I don’t want to overreact, but this is how it happens, my friends. This is how you destroy generations of good will and shift alliances to …who did Trump spend the whole meeting pining for? Russia? This is how a country goes from being a 100 year closest friend with Canada to favoring Russia, and don’t think the rest of the world hasn’t fking noticed, either.

This is getting insane, and all I can say is that I hope Mueller is working this Sunday, because this man MUST be stopped.  No matter what good comes out of the North Korean summit, could it outweigh the damage Trump wrought in Canada and the G7?

No.
