[Yes, I had trouble typing that title with a straight face. Yup.] It appears that Sucker Carlson may have gotten himself into a bit of a pickle. He’s been talking to people he ought not speak with. But if it didn’t come down on him for conversing with Putin, why now? What’s different? Did he gossip about someone who finally hit back? With a hat tip to Raw Story:
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson alleged that the CIA has been intercepting his private communications and is preparing a criminal referral to the Department of Justice, claiming he faces potential charges under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) for communicating with Iranian contacts before the war began. “The CIA has been reading my texts,” Carlson stated. “They have intercepted my private communications with contacts in Iran in the period leading up to the beginning of the current conflict. And on the basis of those texts—texts!—they are preparing to accuse me of being an unregistered foreign agent under FARA.”
1: Oh, how the mighty have fallen. 2: Wouldn’t put it past him. 3: He claims. 4: If this really is happening, he’s going to piss them off by yapping about it. 5: If they hadn’t been looking at him before, they may very well do so now. I would not want people to know the CIA was investigating me! Maybe he’s out there whining to try to provide a basis for a fundraiser for his legal expenses. Couldn’t have happened to a jerkier guy.
Carlson denied any wrongdoing, insisting he has never worked for, taken money from, or advocated on behalf of any foreign government. He characterized his communications as routine journalism, stating: “I am an American journalist who has done what American journalists have always done, which is talk to people all over the world in an effort to understand what’s happening.”
He mis-spoke there. It should be an American sleazebag, not a journalist. There’s no way in hail he should be considered a journalist. He’s a gossip. He goes for the gilt and tawdry. He’s beyond extreme. And he’s biased, mostly towards whatever might make him look good and get views or listeners, but always, always for himself.
The commentator framed the alleged investigation as part of a broader pattern, warning that criminalizing journalistic contact with overseas sources sets a dangerous precedent. “If they can do this to me, they can do it to anyone. Any reporter, any commentator, anyone who has a phone and uses it to talk to sources overseas could be targeted in exactly the same way,” he said. Carlson also referenced a 2021 incident when his private texts were leaked to media outlets, characterizing it as “clearly an intelligence operation.” He argued the current situation represents an escalation from leaking to building criminal cases based on private conversations.
He’s almost *too* detailed about this. That bugs me. He’s no lawyer. He’s making many allegations and assumptions. Wow, am I slow. I just noticed he said foreign *governments*. That doesn’t mean he didn’t do anything with foreign *citizens*, and that’s a whole other ball of wax (see: Jared Kushner). Or, it could be my imagination. Either way, let’s hope he does go down and goes down *hard*.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

hmmm. i’m pretty sure he has advocated fir the russian government.
I expect so – considering he went to see Putin. I would enjoy his final fall from grace. And I would laugh.
