And the conspiracy theories are flying! It always has to be his way, his words, his accomplishment, even when what he is discussing is blatantly wrong. He’s so stubborn that way. It’s likely wound up in his image, his perception of himself, that he must be right even when he’s wrong. How many of the lies of his first term were tied up in his ego? One would guess many of them, but not all. There are some things that can’t be related to his ego, because 34,000 lies on the fact-check list are a little much. With gratitude for Raw Story:
President Donald Trump launched into a fresh Truth Social tirade overnight, this time aiming at ABC News and anchor David Muir over the network’s coverage of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool being drained yet again. On Monday’s World News Tonight, Muir noted the pool had been emptied again. “Tonight, the reflecting pool in the nation’s capital being drained again. The second time in recent months, the pool needed to be emptied. Crews addressing several issues, including peeling paint and algae blooms,” Muir said in a brief report.
Before we get into this, I have a question for everyone. When did it change from paint on the pool to being a liner for the pool? This keeps coming up, and it’s making me crazy. Figuratively speaking, of course. Is it blue paint or is it a liner? The news says it’s paint. Trump says it is paint, but the words about the blue being a liner also keep showing up. So, could a supposed gash make paint peel? From pictures we’ve seen, it looks heavier than paint. Enquiring minds want to know.
And the other major thing they are supposed to be fixing is the algae problem. They’ve had trouble with an algae bloom practically right from the beginning when the Pool was created. It hides in the water circulation system. The most likely way to fix it is to put in a new set of proper piping. Can’t see that Trump would spend the time and the money on that. But we taxpayers are handling the costs, so it shouldn’t matter to him anyhow. We’ve been given nothing to say what they are going to do with the algae bloom. How are they going to fix that?
Trump fumed over the report. “ABC Fake News and its shaky anchor, David Muir, said that the Reflecting Pool was drained to address Peeling Paint (there is no paint, it was slashed with a knife, or box cutter, high-grade colored waterproofing liner – it was VANDALISM!) and Algae Blooms (also caused by Vandals, but removed long ago!). In other words, the story was FAKE NEWS, but heavily slanted away from the real cause of the problem, Vandalism. It will be fixed soon and better than ever. 60 monuments and fountains have been cleaned and fully renovated in D.C., and crime is at record lows! Washington has never looked better or been safer!” Evidence of Trump’s claims has been scant.
This brings us back to the point that there are cameras watching the Lincoln Reflecting Pool every minute of every day. Soooooo, Trump should have proof of this vandalism. Except he doesn’t. That may be a factor in a case when Pirro managed to get a grand jury convinced enough to bring a man up on charges of bullsht. We hope the cameras monitoring the Reflecting Pool are on all the time and challenge them to “show us the PROOF” in this situation. Since the charge is bogus, they won’t be able to, and with luck, the judge will throw out the case.
As crews finished draining the basin on Monday, witnesses standing at the pool reported no sign of the “350-foot gash” Trump keeps describing. Government documents reviewed by The New York Times found cuts unrelated to the peeling coating or the green water. And skeptics note the administration may have caused the mess itself, pouring hydrogen peroxide to kill the algae — which stripped the fresh paint.
The $14 million-plus job was hurried to hit a Fourth of July deadline and turned green within days. At least five people have been arrested, including former Olympian David Hearn, who pleaded not guilty and says he’s being scapegoated.
Mr. Hearn is the one they managed to bring up on (nonsense) for the felony we saw earlier. It’s outrageous, and we would love to take a look at that grand jury transcript because it shouldn’t have happened, and what he supposedly did was all lies. He’s the one who needs to know about the Reflecting Pool cameras. We don’t have the names of the other people who were arrested. They have now put up fencing around Trump’s Pond so no one can get close to it. Gee, I wonder why. We’ll just move merrily along.
Sheesh. Trump has a bug up his butt about this, defending what he had done. It’s ridiculous how he has to rant and rave about something. He can’t see that the more he says about the problems, the more they get brought back into the public eye. Then there will be more questions and more stories because he can’t let the project problems go away. Trump can’t see that there are times when situations have been brought up by him and gone back into view, when, if he’d shut up about something, it would quietly go away. Trump doesn’t do quiet. We can expect many more lies. That is the one thing he is consistent with. He loves to lie. He thinks it’s the truth. No, it’s lies. Add to the count. Surely someone is tracking it somewhere.
