This is the part of watching Trump’s *presidency* which is actually painful. A lot of what the American president does is diplomacy. S/He meets with heads of state and discusses matters of world import. For the people who are actually suited to this role, these meetings are a source of great personal joy. Memorable occasions have taken place at the White House over the centuries, with common ground being found and programs moving forward which are of benefit to all humanity. A real president lives for these occasions. But today, Donald Trump looks like he’s at the end of his rope. Either he doesn’t feel well, or he just can’t find it within himself to pretend that he even wants to listen to these people. Or both.
His health is deteriorating rapidly. He didn’t really want to answer any questions and he wanted the whole thing to end quickly. Dude ain’t well.

Here is the Sengelese leader praising Trump’s golf game, because even on the other side of the world they knew what we know, that all Trump lives for is the golf course. And the occasional rally he can sneak in. He hates the rest of this.

That’s about the size of it. And no, I don’t know what happened to the emoluments clause. The one thing we’ve learned from Trump these past years is that laws are basically a concept. If people agree to follow them, they have power. If people flaunt them and are not held accountable for doing so, then it’s as if the law didn’t exist.
This is an American tragedy that you’re witnessing here. Trump is a sickly old man who’s run out of gas. He doesn’t like this kind of work and he’s not suited for it. Trump loved the campaigning and boy does he love the grift. That’s what got him into politics, the flowing cash and the roars of the adoring MAGAs. The actual work of being president he abhors. It’s boring, confusing, and for him it has no payoff.
And what makes it tragic is that the other countries, and the American people, need a president who will take all this seriously and represent America’s interests. And that is not happening at all.
Plus, take a good look at Trump these days. He’s quadrupled up on the bronzer, maybe thinking that makes him look healthy or viral or something along those lines. He looks like death warmed over. And he’s got no stamina.
And I would love to be a fly on the wall and listen to these African leaders discuss Trump’s need to paint his face ridiculously like that. Oh, there is some comic dialogue there. Let’s pray for the right tell-all book to share it with us.
