Yes, in a move that should surprise no one Trump used his attendance at a Dignified Transfer, the return of fallen Troops as a fundraising opportunity. Sure, there was a round of outrage (bipartisan even) that he’d wear a hat to the ceremony – the first time any President has done so. But it was a white ballcap adorned with ’45-47′ on one side which we all knew he’d be selling the damned thing. Of course, there’s no bottom of the abyss with Trump and now he’s sent out a fundraising email using a pic of him wearing his Trump Merch, saluting a casket. No doubt his only thoughts for the solider inside was “If I’ve got to stand here and pretend to care at least I can make money off you!”
Alas, this is what we’ve got for a Commander-in-Chief. Someone who has NEVER respected those who’ve served no matter how much they’ve given including their very lives. We are ALL suckers and losers. If god forbid he gets us into another middle east war and a draft is reinstituted you can be f**king sure Barron Trump (or Tiffany who is still draftable age) will wind up in uniform, much less deployed. For now we have to deal with the outrage that Trump has the gall to PROFIT off the death of troops who if he hadn’t started his stupid war wouldn’t be coming home in simple steel coffins. And, as Raw Story reports filling his pocket with donations using the deaths is exactly what Trump is doing:
Never Surrender, Inc. sent an email promising “National Security Briefing Membership” complete with a photo from Saturday’s dignified transfer honoring six fallen U.S. soldiers at Dover Air Force Base, CNN reported Friday evening. The email encouraged recipients to “claim your spot” and included donation links “in what it describes as an exclusive group receiving updates about national security threats.”
“It promises that members will ‘receive my private national security briefings, unfiltered updates on the threats facing America. The straight truth on border invasions, foreign adversaries, deep state sabotage, and every danger the fake news hides,” according to the report.
The email features Trump saluting beside a flag-draped transfer case in an official White House photograph, blending patriotic imagery with aggressive fundraising language.
This is so vile and despicable I can barely contain myself. And yes, probably some GOPers on Capitol Hill will ‘tut tut’ but not much, and they sure as hell won’t DO anything. My first reaction when I saw this had me logging onto FB, or META or whatever the hell it’s called now. As it happens there’s a MAGA Congress Critter from my hometown in southern Illinois who’s the little brother of classmate I grew up with. I’m already unwelcome by all but a handful of people there so I’m out of f**ks to give and I cut loose.
I’ll summarize here what I said there because when I criticize their orange hued Turd God Emperor many attack me. I suspect even my big sister will give me a ration of sh*t over what I wrote but I DON’T CARE!!! I plainly laid out multiple instances of Trump’s disrespect of our troops going back to his first term. And of course this. I concluded by hitting them where it really hurts – I said (accurately) that if a Democratic President did what Trump’s now doing, using the deaths of troops to fundraise they’d howl loud enough to wake the dead. And literally call for blood. AND I challenged them by saying anyone who’d reply in the contrary, who just ignore it would be a “goddamned f**king LIAR” but I didn’t clean up my language over there.
I WILL be calling both the DC and Carbondale (the closet town to my hometown where he’s got an office) offices of Bost and calling him out. I’ll wait a couple of days so I can summon enough discipline not to talk to a fellow jarhead in jarhead grunt (Mikey had an Air Wing M.O.S.) language. In closing I leave you with this. Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love.
