I’m sure we’re all going to agree that Donald Trump’s obsession with medals and prizes is not normal, and particularly his fixation on the Nobel Peace Prize. But it doesn’t start or end there. Trump wants all the prizes. He claims he should have had an Emmy award. (Psst: he did get a Razzie and if they gave those for presidents every year he’d have at least nine by now, Worst Performance By A U.S. President In Or Out Of Office.) That said, you will enjoy this AI version of Trump’s Dreams Come True.

The other men elected to the presidency did not have this obsession. And I’m positive that the first woman elected to the office will not have this or any obsession. That gal, whomever she may be, will go out of her way to be Miss Normal, mark my words. While you’re at it, take a listen to this one.
Abolish ICE by the end of January‼️
Shut down talk of invading other countries‼️
Force the release of the Epstein file‼️

Remember, we have three more years of this — but only 11 months of unified governance. We should retake the House and it is possible to retake the Senate — not easy, but doable. We need to hold Michigan and Georgia and get four more states besides that.
And who knows? By that time, Trump may have alienated vast swathes of the electorate beyond the blue states that he doesn’t care about alienating right now with his ludicrous ICE activity in northern states, rather than concentrate ICE in the south where the actual migrants are.

Charisse Lee’s Tick Tock post is amazing! I want everyone to watch it! I was already on board with the Resistance, but he explained what we need to do in clear, concise terms that any citizen can comprehend. I would vote for HIM for president as soon as the one we have now blows away with the wind (and his VP and the Squeaker of the House)! Thanks, Ursula!
For someone who’s routinely decried DEI for its “failure” to recognize and reward “merit,” Drumpf sure does act like he’s entitled to all sorts of awards that he’s done NOTHING to merit.
For all the criticisms from the right about “participation trophies,” they just love the guy who DEMANDS a trophy or award for doing NOTHING–not even participating. Really reminds me of the “South Park” episode where Stan’s having a birthday party and Cartman’s there (no explanation) and every time Stan gets a present Mrs Cartman gives Eric a present (ostensibly to keep him quiet); that’s Drumpf in a nutshell.
Can someone here please remind me why Barry Hussein was bestowed a Nobel peace prize at the beginning of his term.
Participation perhaps?
The prize often is less about a person’s role in one specific thing, but about a long history of tangible effort that has resulted in making things better, from the community all the way up to the state, national and even international level. Conservatives love to mock Obama for having been a “Community Organizer.” He had a chance after getting an Ivy League degree to take a high paying gig somewhere and instead went to the south side of Chicago. A group of ministers offered him thousand bucks a month and a beat up old used care to try and develop programs that would benefit a blighted area where there was little opportunity and hope. He established after school study programs, worker/job skills training and developing connections with the business community to help people develop the tools to get jobs. He developed programs of advocacy to help people work with landlords to improve housing. And so on. By the time he left for Harvard Law school he’d established a solid foundation for the non-profit he built from scratch and was already making a positive difference on the south side to keep growing and it did exactly that. As an Illinois legislator he (and his wife) worked hard on veteran’s issues (inspired I think by his grandfather who fought in combat in WWII) and by extension developed a philosophy many of us (including this ole jarhead) share which is that you fight IF you have to because war should only be engaged in when it’s the least shitty option on the table. In the Senate he kept quiet but diligently went to work putting that into action, and paired up with a Senior Senator from neighboring Indiana (Richard Lugar) to shape landmark arms control legislation that included some specific work to address an evolving and hugely dangerous matter that had developed with securing nuclear weapons and materials overseas. This was at a time when Putin was on the rise and there were a LOT of concerns. That legislation, both on WMD and controlling the spread of more conventional weapons mattered at a crucial time. I’d say that is some serious work that promoted peace. In a country that still carries a strong strain of racism he organized and ran a successful Presidential campaign that did not as so many feared result in riots or civil unrest. Then, inheriting the biggest domestic and international financial crisis since the events that triggered the Great Depression, at a time when the whole system was collapsing he got things stabilized and made decisions that got us and the rest of the world back on solid footing, preventing a breakdown of this and other societies. He took difficult, tough, hopeless situations that even posed danger and made them better starting back with his oft mocked days as a community organizer. He promoted and effective positive, peaceful change from the community to the national to the international level. He willingly took on seemingly intractable problems and set about fixing them. He took shitty situations and made them better, which promotes peace. YOUR hero Trump both starting in 2016 and a year ago took good situations and turned them to shit. Chew on THAT for a while dude!
(slow clap)
Wow, well said Denis(albeit a bit long). You should give up on this little blog and get right over to the Obama library(if they ever finish constructing it) and offer your services there. Perhaps you could be on their PR team or a speech writer. Even if everything you said is true (doubt it) it was still undeserved, especially so early in his term. He was gifted that “prize” because he was the first black(half black) president.
Trump is hardly a hero of mine. Far from it in fact. I’ve said here before that im not a Trump apologist. Right now he’s just the catalyst, the vessel if you will, to enacting conservative policy which in my opinion is what will bring this country back toward the middle and make it great again for everyone.
