In 2020 a Verizon executive made this comment about Donald Trump: “It’s almost impossible to believe he exists. It’s as if we took everything that was bad about America, scraped it up off the floor, wrapped it all up in an old hot dog skin, and then taught it to make noises with its face.” Trump represents not only the Republican id and everything reptilian brained about that party, he represents the worst of America. He, himself, is the face of ignorance, racism, misogyny, lying, manipulation, overreaching, and fraud. Along with right-wing media he has normalized these failings.

The Trump name will be synonymous with all of those qualities, plus one more, for as long as historians do profiles on former presidents and presidential candidates. For there is one word not mentioned yet, which describes the man perfectly and encapsulates his entire life: failure. He is a consummate failure. He is not only a failure, he is a serial failure. This montage says it all.

Here’s where Trump is dangerous. He always takes down the little guy with him. “Little guys, who didn’t have much money, had a stake in that property.” That’s a line from another video, done by the Washington Post, depicting how Trump went bust in a cash business, namely the casino business. And he took a lot of people with him.

“He’s gotten rich selling the name that was based on failed projects. The real things that he built, where are they?”

“The owners of small businesses were thrilled when he got here. They would have built a statue to him when he got here. But at the end, they all wound up with debt that could never be paid.”

Those are two lines which I found to be key in describing the Trump phenomenon. He’s the original all hat, no cattle guy. He talks the talk but when it comes down to walking the walk it’s a completely different story. And the second line, about how people welcomed this “vision” of his and then how, at the end, they’re worse off than they were before they ever knew Trump.

Rick Wilson was spot on when he coined the aphorism, “Everything Trump Touches Dies.” America will never be the same. Trump didn’t do this alone, he did it with the complicity of a decayed and rotting GOP. We have seen characters appear in both chambers of Congress, part of the Trojan horse of Trump. We have seen the likes of Tommy Tuberville, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Madison Cawthorn, people who no more belong in politics at that level than they belong walking on the moon without a spacesuit.

Here’s another short video showing the demolition of Trump’s Atlantic City casino. Again, you hear the same refrain. The small businesspeople took a bath. The backbone of America has always been the small business person. Not to mention that the GOP claims to support these people and that their ranks are filled with small business people. Be that fantasy as it may, those are the people that Trump has betrayed and by extension, the people that the GOP has betrayed.

The man is a disaster. Associating with him is a disaster. And he will take the Republican party down with him. They had opportunities to get off the Trumptanic and go a different way and they didn’t. So they will go down with him.

Well, I’d say those folks have no more business being in politics than they have being astronauts, but I’d DEFINITELY say they have plenty of business “walking on the moon without a spacesuit.” In fact, that inspires a new wish: To have enough money to lure those people into their own special trip to the moon, only for the shuttle to have just enough fuel to get them to the moon but have a shuttle set to return from the moon waiting for them just 1 mile away (I would’ve said kilometer, but may as well indulge their hatred for anything “scientific”) only for them to discover there’s just ONE spacesuit available. The full-on fight to the death to get that suit and then, just as they make it to within, say 10 yards, their oxygen supply runs out.

    • Aw, c’mon, they’re doing it to and with themselves right here on earth as we speak. Why wait a week for the trip to the moon? Wouldn’t the video be black and white? Ach, they’re all white. All white, no brains… [I’m a 78 yr old white old geezer…]
