Well, this is proceeding right along, and pretty much like I thought. On Thursday the magistrate judge warned Trump off of being a d*ck in publicizing his upcoming trial. On Friday, Trump went to Bullsh*t Social to threaten pretty much everybody who had ever met him. On Friday the Smith team petitioned the court for a protective order barring Trump from spilling the beans on data turned over during discovery. Judge Chutkan responded giving Team Trump until 5:00 PM Monday to respond.

On Saturday the Trump defense team sent a laughable letter to the judge, requesting that the deadline be pushed back until Thursday. In a rare Saturday ruling, Chutkan shut them down, and let the deadline stand. At 4:58 PM today the Trump team responded. Within three hours the Smith team sent a scorching response, blowing the Trump defense out of the water. In a late Friday ruling, judge Chutkan gave the two sides up until Friday to appear before her to hammer this out.

Let’s make this clear. A federal district court judge doesn’t need an agreement between the two parties in order to issue a protective order. Protective orders are actually common in high profile cases, in order to keep the defense from poisoning the potential jury pool. Judge Chutkan can simply craft the order, and the two sides are stuck with it. Go fight city hall.

I think that Judge Chutkan had something in mind when she issued this order. While the order as I understand it ordered the two sides to appear before her by no later than Friday, as far as I can tell, there was no mention of Trump. But criminal court judges, local, state and federal, are fond of having the defendants present in court for hearings. That way there can be no question that the defendant is fully aware of what’s going on in his or her case, and what the ground rules are.

I have little doubt that judge Chutkan is going to order Traitor Tot to be present for Friday’s hearing, especially since Trump himself is the driving force for the necessity of the protection order in the first place. And when the judge has finished slapping the Trump team lawyers down for their ridiculous response and positions, and sets the parameters for the protective order, it’s time for the main event.

And she’s going to want El Pendejo Presidente sitting there at the defense table for the spectacle. She is going to want to give him a crash course in criminal procedure 101. She’s going to lecture Trump, most likely referring to him as only the defendant, or defendant Trump on what every relevant section of the protection order means, and remind him that there are consequences for his actions. And he’s going to have to sit there, stony faced and take it. Welcome to the adult world Donnie. The judicial system doesn’t give a sh*t about your personal feelings or ego.

The funny thing is, Trump has no idea that he’s f*cking up his own case. Because she has a control over the one thing that Trump values the most. The timing of his trial. And with her rapid fire response to the latest Trump delay tactic nonsense, she’s laying down a marker. Challenges and motions will be dealt with with due diligence and speed, and when she announces the trial date on August 28th, then that is going to be the projected trial date. And the more bullsh*t Trump and his flying monkeys pull, the more she’ll dig her heels in on the trial date. That’s Trump’s Achilles heel, and she knows it. This is already getting interesting.

  1. What will win in the end?

Lies, obfuscation, fantasy, and ineptitude, or reality, facts, and jurisprudence?

Obviously the latter. In court as in life, Trump the loser.

  2. OK, I’m in the “let’s televise the trial” camp. It would be instructive for Trump and his people to see how the law really works (or supposed to), and to watch their….God?…. react during the deliberations.

    • Even Casey Anthony had enough common sense to do what her attorneys told her to do: keep her head down abd her mouth zipped, speaking only when the judge asked her a,question. Hell, even George Zimmerman did that. Most 11 year olds sitting in the principal’s,office are silent and let Mom and Dad do tectalking.

The name of this game is,”Is,Trump.smarter than a fifth grader?”

My bet is “Nope. Nopepitty Nope. Not possible.”

      • Gillian – I believe you are being overly generous in asking if Trump is smarter than a fifth grader. Second grader seems much more like it. Fifth graders are usually smarter than their parents, intellectually at least and surely smarter than the average Trump voter unless they have been beaten into submission.

  3. the X had the court award me with a restraining order , that I honored . Essentially , in a divorce situation it directs the recipient to keep a safe distance from the filer , basically to avoid malicious conversations or threatening messages , or brutal attacks .
They hand them out like Skittles in divorce court . A wise man would consider having one attached to himself , and reconsider any motion to converse in repertory language , let alone level a threat .
If ‘they’ can do that to me they damn sure can do it to Donald J Trump

  4. Trump may be in for a big surprise after pissing her off and laughing about it. Say when she slams down the gavel and says the case goes to trial say in December come he’ll or high water. Say like she’s done with the games and it’s time to get this crap over with.
