This is one of those WTF moments. Why in the world would Donald Trump choose to drop into the iowa Fairgrounds over the 4th of July? Now I suppose there’s some mundane and prosaic reason. Maybe he especially likes the corn dogs. Or he wants to go to Joni Ernst’s pig roast. Anything is possible. Could it be that he wants to campaign for 2028? He is that nuts. Don’t put it past him.

This gets the conspiracy theory running that J.D. Vance will run for president and Trump will run as his vice president. And if anything like that were to happen, one thing is absolute, dead, unequivocally certain: Trump will be even more demented and vegetative than he is now, but it won’t matter. Stephen Miller and Russ Vought are running the White House now. Don’t let anybody tell you any differently. So they would continue in their positions and Trump/Vance would continue, in whatever configuration, and it wouldn’t be any crazier than it is now, except in terms of optics. And clearly Trump doesn’t care about optics.
He may well be looking for an adoring crowd, especially since the birthday celebration tanked last weekend. He’s still smarting about that and looking for people to blame.
I seriously doubt that Trump can get an amendment done to the Constitution. Not in this polarized climate. Plus, he’s going to be 82 in 2028 (assuming that he’s still on this side of the grass) and he’s not doing so well at 79. People age differently, as we have all observed, and he’s doing his level best to keep shuffling around at 79. When you’re that age and in his condition, three years is a long time. Maybe not for people who are younger and healthier but definitely for Trump.
But one thing I’ll say: If and when Trump shows up at the Iowa Fairgrounds on July 3 and starts in with his crazy talk of the “stolen” 2020 election, and starts talking about how he’s “owed” another term, I will be worried. I will be worried because we know Trump is already out of his mind and the people who are around him are all for a government coup. And if they can do one in a quasi legal fashion, so much the better.
They will hang on to their power any way that they can. Anybody remember this? He wasn’t joking.

democrats have won a few special elections recently in Iowa and recently had a massive ICE raid at the meat packing plant there and some farms, as well.
America…are you going to stand for this pissant trashing the Constitution once again? Remember every accusation is a confession. What about the last election where Musk had the means to muck around with computer voting, Trump running around saying don’t worry about voting he already had the votes, and now evidence there was mucking around as Kamala got zero votes in several NY districts. So when will we stop these lying thieving child killers?
