Okay, so this article was from late last night, but I’ll add a bit of a new one from today at the end. Last night, he was ranting and raving, still, about what Iran is doing. And it’s all about the damn oil. I guess he should have thought about that before they started the damn war! Surgical strikes are one thing. War is another. We shouldn’t even be in the wretched thing! (Do you think I’m a little crabby about all this?) Bad news at the end. With thanks to Raw Story and Raw Story:
Donald Trump posted a stark warning to Iran on Truth Social Monday evening, threatening military retaliation if the country interferes with oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. “If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far,” Trump wrote in the post.
Ugh. Not a way to say something. And do we have the munitions to hit them 20 times harder? I’m betting no, but I would have to ask our resident expert, Denis, for information on that. Nevertheless, there are still better ways to have said it. Instead, he blusters, threatens, and makes things worse. Threatening a country that can cut off a whole bunch of oil for a whole bunch of countries is not a way to win friends and influence people.
Trump escalated his rhetoric further, writing, “Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again — Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them — But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen!” Trump framed the warning as beneficial to multiple nations, saying: “This is a gift from the United States of America to China, and all of those Nations that heavily use the Hormuz Strait. Hopefully, it is a gesture that will be greatly appreciated.” The conflict has fractured Trump’s MAGA base, with many supporters feeling betrayed, as Trump campaigned on ending foreign entanglements.
Pardon me whilst I gag. Gift. What a bunch of hooey. Taking the damn tariffs off unless needed for balance would be a gift. We haven’t heard anything about him doing *that*. Yes, most of the world uses oil for something or other, although the penguins do not. (Remember the penguins?) There is something else to consider. Liquid natural gas tankers are extremely volatile. They aren’t going to want to blow one of those because it would be disastrous. It would hurt Iran just as badly. Sooooo Trump said the war was over *snort*, which means they shouldn’t need to block the Strait anymore. Of course, his threats mean the war *isn’t* over. Twit. Then today….
Political analysts and observers were aghast on Tuesday after President Donald Trump uncorked his latest threat against Iran. On Truth Social, Trump threatened that there would be “military consequences” for Iran if the country placed mines around the Strait of Hormuz. He made the threat just a day after Trump proclaimed the war in Iran was over. Political analysts and observers reacted to Trump’s threat on social media. “Madness. He is insane,” actress Lorraine Montez posted on Bluesky.
This just in, thanks to my husband: Iran begins laying mines in the Strait, according to CNN. Effing wonderful. We’re going back to war unless they can just blow the mines out of the water. Do we even *have* minesweepers anymore? I can’t see where sending in submarines would be a good idea for that. Oh, and the baby tsunamis if we blow the mines with missiles, which would be a waste, but we know Trump is all about excess. What the hell is going on here??!!!!!!
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
